Lady Hornets repeat as national champs

BROKEN ARROW, OKLA. &8212; The Concordia Lady Hornets can go ahead and get fitted for that second ring.
Tournament MVP Santana Seay scored 29 points and hauled in eight rebounds, while All-Tournament selection Deshawn Butler added 10 points and 10 rebounds as Concordia defeated Philander Smith 65-60 to repeat as USCAA National Champions.
Concordia hit 51 percent from the field for the game (23-of-45) while holding Philander Smith to 21-of-60 from the floor (35 percent).
The Lady Hornets defeated Southern Virginia in the 2007 championship game and knocked them off in the semifinals this year to advance to the title game.
Philander Smith was paced by All-Tournament selection Chloe Williams with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Meisha Williams added 14 and Brianna Austin scored 12 for the Lady Panthers, who trailed 25-21 at halftime.
The Panthers did a lot of making up in the second half after not being able to buy a bucket in the first 20 minutes.
They shot 7-for-27 from the field, including a 1-for-9 mark from long range.
