District Attorney Michael Jackson prosecuted the case.

The students were involved in the fight late last year. McDaniel left campus with two other students, which prompted the football coach to notify the principal. After McDaniel returned to campus, he confronted the football coach.

One of the students who left with McDaniel, Edward Fears, testified during a hearing last year that the coach pushed McDaniel and punched him in the face.

Raymond said the punch was thrown in self defense after McDaniel and Fears threatened and cursed him several times, then attacked him. Raymond and McDaniel went to the school&8217;s office after the incident had cooled down.
