Otto Blevins

Otto Blevins, 50, of Selma, died February 19, 2008.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26, 2008.

Otto was employed by the United States Postal Service, in Freeport, Long Island for 13 years.

Otto departed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY after a short illness.

Otto leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife Cathy, his two sons, Tayler Malik (9) and Kevin Tyrek (6); his loving mother Betty Blevins-Taylor; his father Johnnie Howard Sr.; stepfather Willie Taylor; his sisters Earnestine (Susie) Lee, Rose Thompson, Patricia Crusoe; brothers, Curtis Taylor and Sammie Blevins (Rita).

(Angina Howard, Belinda Jackson, Loretta Cosby, Reginald, Keith, Johnnie, Jr., Cornelius and Glenn Howard).

Mother-in-law Mary Sparrow; father-in-law Oliver Sparrow; brother-in-law Marc Sparrow; aunts, Pearl Rose, Alberta Jackson, Alice Hayes, Barbara and Delta Smith and Dorothy Lewis; uncles, Grant Blevins (Willie), Andrew Blevins (Minnie), Walter Blevins (Linda), Conley Blevins (Claude) and Arthur Blevins (Gloria) and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving relatives and friends.

The family of the late Otto Blevins recognizes that we are blessed with love and friendship through your many acts of kindness.

We express sincerest appreciation to you who walked with him in life, stood with him in his sickness, comforted us in the pain of our loss and continue to celebrate with us the memory of his life.

Christine Garner

Christine Garner, 82, resident of Selma, Al, died Friday, Feb. 22 at her home.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 12 pm, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at Summer Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor William E. Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Garner;

parents, William Tomley and Florence Peak; three brothers, J.C. Peak, E. Peak and Joe Frank Peak; and one sister Dora Moorer.

Survivors includes, five sons, Sylvester (Peggy) Garner, William (Tracy) Garner, MacArthue (Elizabeth) Garner, Joe Lewis Garner and Nathaniel (Michelle) Garner; three daughters, Rosa Garner, Christine (Tony) Vaughan and Gertrude Scott; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one son-in-law, four daughters-in-law, nine nieces and two nephews.

Pallbearers will be Deacons of Summer Grove, Flower bearers Deaconess of Summer Grove.

Janie Perry

Janie Perry, 85, resident of Selma, AL died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Montgomery County Hospital.

Services will be announced at a later date by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.

Maxine Elizabeth Walker

Maxine Elizabeth Walker, age 83, of Selma died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at her home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.

at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. David Stewart officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by her cousins, Robert (Martha) Owen of Selma, Peggy Thiebault of Selma, Joyce Owen and, Sammy (Bobbie) Owen both of Somerville, TN, special friends and caregivers, Annie and Edward Kidd and Rosemary King.
