YMCA conducts weight-loss contest

Selma, get ready to lose some pounds.
The YMCA Selma-Dallas County is conducting interviews today and tomorrow for The Biggest Loser Contest, to kick off March 6 with the first weigh-in.
Each week, the contest will focus on one of the participants, Duke said.
The contest will last eight weeks and will end with the announcement of a winner on April 24.
The winner will receive a prize package that includes a three-month membership, gift certificate to Mark&8217;s Mart, products from Hairmasters, located in Valley Grande, a photo opportunity
for the winner and their family from photographer David Blackmon, a massage from The Massage and Spa Services of Selma, and a prize from Butler Truax Jewelers.
The deadline for entry to the contest was Friday.
Duke and Kasey Burton will conduct interviews by telephone to choose the 12 contestants.
Aerobics classes will be part of the program,
and participants will have to keep a nutrition log to keep track of their diets and weight loss. They will have a membership to the YMCA for eight weeks, where they can participate in classes, work out, and swim, Duke said.
