Anne was born May 3, 1917 in Collirene, AL to Claudius Greene Rives III and Pearl McLendon Rives. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florence State Teachers College in 1938, and from the University of Alabama in 1957 with a Masters degree in English.

Anne married James H. Ferguson of Jasper, AL in April 1943. She and Jimmy had one son, James H.

Ferguson, Jr. in 1946. She taught typing, shorthand, and English for over 20 years at Jones Valley High School. Several years after Jimmy&8217;s death in 1963, she married a childhood friend, Ralph Hardy, and moved to Selma, AL, where she lived until his death in 1985. She then moved back to Birmingham to live with her greatly loved sister, Lois Rives Johnson. In 2003 they moved to Carmel Valley, CA to live with Dr. and Mrs. Jim Farrow, who loved and cared for her as if she was their own mother.

Anne is survived by her sister, Lois Rives Johnson; her brother Claudius Greene Rives IV; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. James H. Ferguson; her grandson; his wife; and two great-granddaughters, Jim and Shani Ferguson and their daughters Illit and Lahav, and her granddaughter Amy Lynn Ferguson.

Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that appreciation of Anne&8217;s life and love for God be expressed through contributions to Yeshua Israel Ministries to help bring the gospel of Christ to the nation of Israel. Donations can be made online at, by calling 800-856-7060, or my mailing a contribution to YeshuaIsrael Ministries, P.O. Box 535788, Grand Prairie, TX 75053.

Anne&8217;s life was a testimony to the reality of the last words she spoke to her son four days before she went home to be with her Lord – &8220;God is good!&8221;
