The season didn&8217;t end the way C.H.A.T. Academy girls&8217; basketball coach Ivery Williams wanted, but they still made it further than they&8217;ve ever been.
The Lady Bulldogs (20-2) finished third in the East Alabama Invitational Basketball Tournament and finished the year by winning two straight games.
It was the team&8217;s first ever trip to the state tournament.
Janisha Jackson led C.H.A.T. in scoring every game, including a 19-point effort against Russell County.
The Bulldogs beat Auburn 35-31 to open the tournament, but ran into their only roadblock in the next round.
Despite 14 points and 12 rebounds from Jackson, South Girard won 44-40. Karlyn Savage also scored 14 points.
The Bulldogs bounced back to beat Russell County 38-31. Tangulia Rose added six points for C.H.A.T. in the game.
The team beat Wetumpka in the third-place game with a 41-24 win. Jackson scored 16, and Jameneshia Caver had 11 points and nine rebounds.
The C.H.A.T. boys finished their season 18-3.
