Mr. Roy Pryor Cosby Jr.

Mr. Roy Pryor Cosby Jr., 57, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at his home.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. George Jones officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Cosby was survived by his stepmother, Harold C. Cosby, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Juldlean Givhan

Mrs. Juldlean Givhan, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at her home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Wayne Hewlett officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Inc.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Bettis and Walter Holmes.

Survivors include her spouse, Eddie Givhan Sr.; parents, Ceola and Fred Holmes; one son Eddie Givhan Jr.; four daughters, Jocelyn, Diabla, Edjeana, and Sonya; three sisters Wanda Holmes, Camilla Jackson, and Wanetta Hayes.

Pallbearers are Albert Jackson, Riggs Robinson Jr., Christopher Hosea, Fredrick Jackson, Willie Bowie, Mack Stallworth.

Mr. Joseph Stephen

Wallace Sr.

SPANISH FORT &8212; Mr. Joseph Stephen Wallace Sr., 91, a native of Browns, and a resident of Westminster Village in Spanish Fort died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.

Mr. Wallace was born in Southern

Rhodesia, Africa on June 19, 1916, to Ray Burton Wallace and Mary Elizabeth McCann Wallace.

Graveside services will be held

11 a.m., Wednesday at at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma.

Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Newell Wallace.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Wallace, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 19; three children: Judy Wallace Hawes (Russell) of Spanish Fort, Bebe Wallace Cox (David) of Haleyville, and Joseph Stephen Wallace Jr. (Lucy) of Birmingham; and eight grandchildren, Ashley and Joseph Cox, Chrissy, Mark and Mary Beth Hawes, Joe, Emily, and Elizabeth Wallace.

After high school he attended

Oberlin College, in Oberlin, Ohio., and received his master&8217;s degree in

chemistry in 1939.

After working in the Chicago area

for Standard Oil, Mr. Wallace returned to Browns. in 1946 to join his father in the ranching and farming business.

In 1948 he married Velma Christine Finch of Browns in a ceremony at the bride&8217;s parents home.

Mr. Wallace continued

his farming operation for the next 45 years. He and his wife were longtime members of the Marion Junction United Methodist Church.
