The Selma Chapter of The Links, Inc. hosted its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast Monday at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center.

Members of the community of all ages turned out for the event. The program consisted of prayer, singing, speeches and reflection on what the day represented &8212; the birthday of Dr. King, the legacy he left behind and the challenge to pass that legacy on.

The unity breakfast was one of many events that took place Monday.

Bus loads of out-of-state children and adults came to Selma Monday to take a walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, tour landmarks, and take in the city&8217;s history.

Several churches also held programs in honor Dr. King.

His &8220;I have a Dream&8221; speech resonated from many television and radio broadcasts.
