Valley Grande &8212; A Valley Grande man allegedly stole several checks and went on a cashing spree.

Jeff Smith, 45, of 769 County Road 63, has been charged with seven counts of forgery. Dallas County Sheriffs placed Smith in jail on $70,000 bond.

Freine said the victim reported unusual activity on his checking account on Dec. 28.

Authorities said Smith allegedly wrote out to cash more than $1,000 over the seven checks.
