Meadowview takes title from CCA

The Meadowview girls jumped on Central Christian in the second quarter on the way to a 49-38 win in the final game of the Brian Scott Tournament Tuesday.
The Trojans led the Warriors 25-11 after a 9-0 run with 4 minutes left in the second quarter.
CCA’s Janeika Williams hit a layup that ended an 8-2 run and cut Meadowview’s lead to 41-34 with 2:41 left in the game.
Behind a pair of layups from Deavan Aultman, Meadowview outscored CCA 8-4 down the stretch. Aultman led Meadowview with 13 points, followed by Kayla Kaldor with 12 and Carol Ann McIntyre with 10.
Tiffany Brown had 13 for the Warriors, and Erikka Caldwell had 10.
CCA overcame a rough start to the second half and made it a 34-24 game with a Brown 3-pointer. Sandretta Thomas sent the team into the fourth down 35-26 after a breakaway layup.
Morgan-Shelby Academy
Morgan took third-place in the tournament with a 49-25 win over Shelby Academy.
Jaye Lyn Lawrence scored a game-high 16 points. Morgan took control of the game by outscoring the Raiders 9-0 to end the first quarter and then 14-1 to end the first half. The Senators had a 35-9 lead going into the locker room.
Kaitlyn Davenport hit a pair of jumpers and sparked a short-lived Shelby run to end the third quarter. The team was still down by 23 going into the fourth.
The game slowed down in the fourth, and both teams managed just two field goals.
Jaime Pilcher and Laura Lee Logan each scored eight points for Morgan.
