Morgan tops Meadowview in tourney

The Morgan Academy Senators beat the Meadowview Christian Trojans 82-54 in the first game of the Brian Scott Tournament Monday.

Morgan pulled away with a quick lead, opening with a 28-8 first quarter under the hot hands of Daniel Lee, Weston Mason, Chris Warrington, and Logan Cowart.

Meadowview fought back in the second quarter behind the shooting of Justin Freine and J.R. Lowe to finish the half down 42-26.

The Senators again pulled away in the third quarter against the Trojans to take control of the game for good.

Lee led Morgan with 18 points, followed closely by Mason with 17 and sophomore Coal Brown with 11.

Lowe led the Trojans with 25 points, followed by Freine with 12.

Rebounding was nearly even with Morgan barely on top with a 33-31 advantage.

Brown led the Senators with seven rebounds, and Sam Tate followed with five.

For Meadowview, Ross Johnson snagged 11 rebounds, and Lowe had 10.
