Mr. Alexander Joseph Maxey

Mr. Alexander Joseph Maxey, departed this life on Nov. 1, 2007, in Romulus, Mich. He was born in Selma on Jan. 28, 1926, to the late Andrew and Izetta Maxey.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary P. Reeve; a son, Martin A. Maxey; and brothers, Charles Maxey, and William Bennett.

Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn; a daughter, Jacqueline; sons, Darrell of Ann Arbor, Mich., Joseph and his wife Cornelia of Mississauga, Ontario, Michael and his wife Jacqueline of Durham, N.C., and

Matthew of Romulus, Mich.; sisters, Izetta Maxey Maull and Mary Frances Headen of Selma, Dorothy Martin of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Mattie Griffin of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, the Reeves and Reed families, many nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives and friends.

Mr. William Hanson, Bill Morgan

Mr. William Hanson, Bill Morgan, III passed away Nov. 7, 2007 in Gulf Breeze, Fla. He was born Dec. 18, 1961.

Surviving are his son, William Zachary Morgan; parents, William Hanson Morgan, Jr. of Thorsby

and Shirley and Merle,Dale Young of Selma; three brothers, Wayne Morgan of Auburn, John and his wife Lisa Morgan of Clanton and Adam and his wife Raylene Morgan of Selma ; one sister, Lore&8217; Lucas of Selma; four nieces, Jessica, Ashley, Emily and Katie Morgan; one nephew, Timothy Lucas and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was the great-grandson of the late William Hanson Sr. and Lucy Morgan and Hugh and Elizabeth Herbertson.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 from 5 to7 p.m.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 12, 2007,

at 1 p.m. at Christ the King CEC Church with the Rev. Ken Cates and the Rev. Bill Darwin officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Adam Morgan, Wayne Morgan, John Morgan, Wayne Bourgeois, Timothy Lucas, Marshall Morgan, Jr., Marshall Morgan, Sr., Brad Morgan, Stewart Franklin, and Paul Traywick.

He was a registered nurse, working many years at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. in the intensive care unit, emergency room and he flew as a helicopter nurse.

Ms. Diane Irvin, 51,

of Selma passed Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center Hospital.

Services are 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, from Ebenezer Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. F.D. Reese will officiate. Burial will be in

Fairlawn Memory Gardens with Miller Funeral Service Inc. directing.

Survivors are son, Paul O’neal; daughter, Dorethea and her husband, Tony Shelton;

brothers, Frank Irvin Jr. and his wife Mae, Willie O. Irvin and his wife Shirelle, Henry Irvin and his wife Minnie, Benjamin Irvin and his wife

Dorothy; sisters, Jessica Roan, Bernice Moore and her husband Eddie, Jettie Eaton and her husband George,

Beverly Stokes and her husband Lester, Debra Coleman and her husband Myron, Naomi Rojas and her husband Felix, Ida Tarrant; 11 grandchildren;

a host of nieces and nephews; longtime friend Micheal Phillips ; Glen Smith; Shirley Blevins; Lillie Johnson; and her favorite niece Bernice and Nikki Irvin.

Mrs. Glenda Campbell Knight

Mrs. Glenda Campbell Knight, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Glenda Campbell Knight, passed with great joy from this world into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in Winter Park, Fla.

She was 69 years old. She was born in Selma to John and Othia Campbell on June 29, 1938.

Glenda and Gordon W. Knight were married on February 24, 1962. For 45 years, their love was an inspiration to all who knew them. Mrs. Knight is remembered for her strong faith in Jesus, her unconditional love for her family, her generosity and sacrificial giving to others, her caring nature, her devotion to family, and her undying love for Gordon.

Mrs. Knight was a member of St. Paul’s

Presbyterian Church in Orlando, where she was active in the Caleb’s Pilgrims seniors group.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon; mother-in-law, Lee; sister, Tuck Nichols and her husband, Woody; brother, James Campbell and his wife, Irene, daughter, Terri Scribben; daughter, Susan Pollard; daughter, Missi Juergens and her husband, Rick; daughter, Stephanie Lobo and her husband, Niels; grandchildren, Laura, Sean, Alison, Jordan (whose Mom Mom will carry him forever), Tiffany, Precott, Nicholas, and Thurston; sons-in-law, Dave Cross and Cary Santiago; and beloved nieces and nephews. We love you, Mom, and we look forward with great anticipation for our joyous reunion. Words cannot express our thanks for everything you’ve done and our thanks to God for his gift of you in our lives.

A viewing was held 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday Nov. 1, at the Baldwin-Fairchild Goldenrod Chapel, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park.

The memorial service was held 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church at 4917 Eli Street, Orlando.

Mr. Thomas “T.J.” Latham

Mr. Thomas “T.J.” Latham, 71, of Selma passed away Nov. 7, 2007.

Surviving are his wife, Teresa Latham; sons, Thomas “Bo” and wife Jonette Latham, Jr. of Cooper, Keith Latham of Panama City, Fla. and John Latham; daughters, Judy Holley of

Destin, Fla. and Kelly Latham and fianc&, Ray Oliver; sisters, Ruth McMinn of Defuniak Springs, Fla. and Ella Mae Cook; grandchildren, Kelse and Shana Robinson, Brian Holley, Brian Latham, Adam Latham and Jason Barrett; three great grandchildren and very special friends, Tommy and Christy Missildine and Greta Jones.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m.,

Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ruth Morgan, of Catherine passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the age of 84.

Surviving Mrs. Morgan is her son James Lynn and wife Sermisri Morgan; daughters, Paula and husband Kenneth Hopkins and Debra and husband Jeffrey Harris; brothers, Robert L. Whittington and Matt B. Whittington; grandchildren, Ken and wife Jennifer Hopkins, Jr., Khristina and husband Clif Roberts, James Morgan, Zac Morgan, Justin Harris and Morgan Harris; great-grandchildren, Trent Stockman, Gary Roberts, Andrew Morgan and Conner Morgan.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Selma Funeral Home.

1 p.m., Tuesday, at the Lamison Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Harris officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in the Catherine Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Hopkins, Jr., Justin Harris, Clif Roberts, Trent Stockman, Morgan Harris and Huck Morgan.

Mrs. Mildred Alexander Prescott, 82, of Selma died Nov. 9, 2007, at a local nursing home. Services will be held

2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with burial following in New Live Oak Cemetery. Mrs. Prescott is survived by husband, Lloyd H. Prescott; children, Carolyn and husband Steen Traylor and Wanda and husband Wayne Smith; grandchildren, Amy T. and husband Tad Lightfoot, Casey and husband Todd Cary, and Wesley Smith; six great grandchildren; sister, Chloe Duncan. She was preceded in death by her grandson, James Steen Traylor, Jr. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Wesley Smith, Todd Cary, Wayne Hand, Charles Alford, and Tad Lightfoot. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
