It would seem relatively simple: Burn ban order means no burning anything.

But some people just don’t get the point.

In Dallas County, a burn ban has been in effect since August.

That burn order means no burning &045; not of trash or leaves or grass.

No burning.

That also means for you smokers who still throw butts out of the window, put the cigarettes out in the ashtray. If the ashtray in your vehicle is too full to put out the smoke, then maybe you should think about cleaning it out.

Seriously, all of Alabama has suffered from extremely dry weather this year.

It’s late fall. That’s when leaves begin to hit the ground, providing tinder for a wildfire.

Most of us have a tendency to think that wildfires only happen in far away states like California. It’s true, California likely gets more than her share of wildfire, but the possiblity of fires here in Alabama are just as strong.

We all need to be aware that an action as small as not parking a vehicle on dry grass can prevent a forest fire.

It takes a generation to grow trees. It takes just a thoughtless second to kill thousands of acres of them.
