UM police arrested her at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and charged her also with a count of harassment. The youth is at Shelby County Detention Center in Columbiana, Shackelford said.
Authorities will not release the name of the youth because her identity is protected under state law.
UM police officers have said the teenager entered Brooke Residence Hall about 9 p.m. Tuesday. She allegedly carried a gun and wanted to see a dorm resident. Brooke is a women’s dormitory on campus. The youth is not a student at the university.
