To The Editor:
Dr. Paul Allen was 98 years old when he passed away last week. Probably only we of the older generation knew him. Dr. Paul was an amazing man. Newton, Paul’s brother, and Paul are what made dentistry a respectable profession today.
At one time, I believe, Dr. Paul knew more about all phases of dentistry than anyone in the world. He was a pioneer in his profession and always interested in the newest techniques, even until his heath. Dr. Paul was the first dentist in this area to use local anesthetic (Novocaine). Also, he was instrumental in getting fluoride in our water supply, which prevents 70 percent of cavities.
He was a man sent from God to relieve human suffering and is greatly looked up to and respected by my generation of dentists.
