The message to teenagers from the Dallas County Commission: Just say no.

On Monday the commission approved a resolution supporting the efforts of the Selma-Dallas Prevention Collaborative and Selma and Dallas County school systems to help students endure peer pressure to drink alcohol.

A workshop is set for 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center for about 250 students,

and state and local officials to talk about how to prevent underage drinking.

The Rev. Coley C. Chestnut of SDPC will direct the program. He invited county commissioners to take part during the workshop.

Red Ribbon Week, which extends from today through Oct. 31, commemorates the 1985 murder of DEA Agent Enrique S. Camarena in Guadalajara, Mexico, after he was kidnapped by Mexican drug traffickers.
