Dr. Paul Edward Allen Sr.
Dr. Paul Edward Allen Sr., age 98, of Selma died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Morrow officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma B. Allen of Selma, children, Paul E. Allen Jr. of Charleston, S.C., and Marjory A. McCarty of Montgomery, four grandchildren, Jennifer Allen Moumane (Driss) of Zanbia Africa, Kendall Allen Lentz (Steve) of Rock hill, S.C., Ashley McCarty Luke (Colin) of Birmingham, and William McCarty Jr. (Elizabeth) of Birmingham, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph Crawford
Mr. Joseph Crawford, age 87 of Sawyerville, Ala., passed Oct.16, 2007, at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the New First Baptist Church, Sawyerville.
Pastor L.C. Eatman will officiate.
Interment with military honors will follow in Sarah Christian Cemetery, Greensboro.
The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at noon.

Catherine Williams
Mrs. Catherine Williams, age 72 of Greensboro passed Oct. 11, 2007, at Hale County Hospital, Greensboro, Alabama.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, Faunsdale.
The Rev. James Carter will officiate.
Interment will follow in
Curry Grove Benevolent Society Cemetery, Newbern, Alabama.
The remains will lie in state at the church on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Robert Edward Jones
Robert Edward Jones, age 48, formerly of Selma died at his home in Marietta, Ga., on Oct. 7, 2007, after a brief illness.
He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Vigil Honor Society of the Order of the Arrow. He was a 1977 Graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a degree in chemical engineering. He is survived by his wife, Sharilyn R. Jones of Marietta, Ga., his daughter, Jennifer A. Jones of Bonifay, Fla., his father Frank W. Jones., his sister Rebecca Jones Holland and his brother David Jones all of Selma and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother Anne
P. Jones and brother-in-law Ricky Holland.
A memorial service was held in Marietta, Ga., on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. There will be a visitation/memorial service held at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity.
Ernest Lolley
Ernest Lolley of Linden, formerly of Uniontown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at his home.

Emma Muhammed, age 42, of Selma died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 20, 2007, at Elmwood Cemetery. Walker Mortuary directing.
Emma is survived by her husband, Kalim Mohammad; her parents, Frank and Mary Montgomery; two sons, Kalim Muhammad and Karim Muhammad; two daughters, Kahaalida Muhammad and Kahaalila Muhammad; four brothers, Willie Grimes, Frank Montgomery Jr., Jesse Montgomery and Ervin Montgomery; four sisters, Martha Lee, Bertha Ambrose, Patricia Howard and Sarah Taylor, six brothers-in-law,; four sisters-in-law; 21 nieces and 18 nephews.
Ira Dell Pettway
Ira Dell Pettway, age 74, of Selma, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday Oct. 20, 2007, at noon, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Selma.
The Rev. E.J. Marshall Sr. will officiate.
Final arrangements entrusted to Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.
She was married to Jesse C. Pettway Jr. who preceded her in death.
Also, preceding her in death was one son, Jeffery; three brothers:
Ernest, Timothy, and James Mauldin; and three sisters:
Addie Lee Killebrew, Maggie Dell Pettway, and Caroline Anderson.
Precious memories will linger in the hearts of her seven sons:
Charles (Geraldine), Willie James (Jannie), Jackie (Marcella), Jessie “Rickey,” Patrick (Patricia), Ronald (Alma), and Keithin (Linda); two daughters:

New York; 25 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; special sisters-in-laws:
Elizabeth (Robert) Childers and Bessie Lee King; seven brothers-in-law; goddaughter, Joanne Sharpe; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Randy Rhodes, 48, resident of Brooklyn, N.Y., died on Friday Oct. 12, 2007, at a local hospital

Johnny J. Sharpe, 56, resident of Selma died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Vaughn Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at noon at Everdale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thornton Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.
Gladys Ophelia Walton Smiley
Gladys Ophelia Walton Smiley age 78, of Selma died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at 3464 Ala. Hwy. 41, Selma.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday Oct. 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor John L. Ward.
Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery, directed by Walker Mortuary
Gladys is survived by four sons, Woodrow Smiley, Robert Charles Smiley, Joe Lawrence Smiley and Ellis Smiley Jr.; one daughter, Emma Lee Smiley Mack; two sisters, Gloria Walton and Claudia Brazeal; fourteen grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; a host of son-n-law; host of daughters-n-law;
a host of brothers-n-law; host of sisters-n-law; host of nieces host of nephews and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers are Willie Garrett, Wayne Peterson, Jayce Pettaway, Randolph Robinson, Kenneth Taylor and Robert Tyus.
