It was described as “the best of the best” as thousands of visitors and residents turned out Saturday for the 37th Annual Riverfront Market.
“Absolutely fabulous. We had the best artists, the best musicians, the best of the best we ever had,” said KellySue Giampietro, one of the organizers for the event.
Vendors lined Water Avenue for the market, hawking their wares, arts and crafts and food.
This year, ArtsRevive took on the role of providing booth space and luring artists from throughout the region to showcase their fine arts.
“I have not been in several years. I’m glad to see the focus on the art and artists, and the local flavor of Selma,” said Drue Lee of Selma.
Musicians provided atmosphere with Dixieland Jazz, R&B and old time rock and roll played on two stages.
For those looking for a bite to eat, cooks prepared everything from hamburgers to fried fish, lemonade and kettle korn.
The Restaurant at Grumbles Alley served Bloody Marys to customers sitting at tables that were set up streetside.
“I think it’s a rip roarin’ good time. Isn’t art fun,” said David Hurlbut of Selma.
