Good things are happening this month in Selma and Dallas County. The Tale Tellin’ Festival and Riverfront Market Day are next week.

This weekend, however, we’re already in the mode for fall fun.

The Central Alabama Fair opened Monday and continues through Saturday.

Events, such as the Miss Central Alabama Fair pageant Tuesday, have already drawn visitors, but there’s more fun to come.

Activities culminate Saturday with the Little Miss Central Alabama Fair pageant at 4 p.m., but before that there’s plenty of events to enjoy, including the Doug Stone concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Each day the fairgrounds at Lions Fair Park on Dallas Avenue open at 5:30 p.m.

Other attractions include Kyra Sparks’ Exotic Animals, a Selma Idol Contest, hot dog eating contest, a Selma High School band concert and more.

Sponsored by the Selma Lions Club, the Fair is celebrating its 51st anniversary this year.

Come out and support this local organization and enjoy some community fun at the same time.
