Mr. Matthew Smith, age 63, of Demopolis, Ala. passed Sept. 25, 2007, in Greensboro, Ala.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Rangeline Road, Demopolis, Ala.

Arra Sims Poole

Arra Sims Poole, age 74, of Montgomery, Ala., passed away Sept. 30, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Lee and Lela Sims and brothers, John T. Sims and Aubrey Lee Sims.

Surviving Mrs. Poole are her husband of eight years, James R. Poole; brother, Robert Cecil Sims; sisters, Mollie Donovan and Roberta Sims Sherrill; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Joyce McElroy; Joan McElroy and Joan’s sons.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Poole retired from South Central Bell after 35 years.

Willis Gregg

Mary Frances Willis Gregg, 97, of Stanton, Ala. died Friday, Sept.

28, 2007, at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, Ala.

She was born on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1910, in Autauga County, daughter of the late Thomas Willis and the late Lillian Marlar Willis.

She was a Homemaker.

Surviving are her two sons, Billy C. (Earlene) Gregg of Stanton, Ala., Tommy (DeeDee) Gregg of Stanton, Ala.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Moore of Mobile, Ala., and Ladye Herman of Mobile, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandson.

Friends was received from 6-8p.m., Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007. at Martin Funeral Home.

Services were held Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Rasberry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church Building or Cemetery Fund.

Interment followed in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery, .

Ward Sutherlin

Rita Louise Ward Sutherlin, 59, of North Carolina, formerly of Selma,

died Sept. 29, 2007. Mrs. Sutherlin was the daughter of the late Eddie Ward and Marie Ward. She is survived by her husband, David Sutherlin; daughter, Andrea Sutherlin; mother, Marie Ward; sisters, Carolyn Prescott and Donna Arnett; brother, Eddie Ward Sr.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at New Live Oak cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the local animal shelter.
