Hazel J. Ferebee, 93, a resident of Selma passed Sept. 23, 2007. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at noon at Pineview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joseph Rembert officiating and J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Annezell Gafford, age 69, of Lucedale, Miss., died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Selma and was a former resident of Mobile. She was a registered nurse and enjoyed backyard bird watching and reading.

She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church of Lucedale and Alabama State Nurses&8217; Association.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Luther Smith and Dorothy O. Smith.

She is survived by her husband of

46 yrs, Larry Gafford, Lucedale; daughter, Melanie Cox, Hernando, Miss.; son, Brian Gafford, Athens, Ala.; sister, Al Sandra Freeman, Statham, Ga.; brother, Oxford Smith, Lake Martin, Ala.; four grandchildren, Carson, Colton, and Channing Gafford, of Athens, Ala.; Ian Cox, Hernando, Miss.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, 10 a..m. at Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Lucedale, Miss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church for the mission ministry of Travis and Jeanette Havens; 2165 Rocky Creek Rd; Lucedale, MS 39452.

Bob Edd McKinney

Bob Edd McKinney, 74, of Plantersville died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Vaughn Regional Bapt. Medical Center, Selma.

He was born on Friday, Oct. 14, 1932, in Chilton Co., Alabama, Son of the late John Richard McKinney Sr. and the late Mary Harrison McKinney.

He was a salesman at Builders Supply in Selma.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Anne McKinney of Plantersville; daughter, Susan (Tiger) Jones of Selma; son, Scott McKinney of Plantersville; granddaughter, Reagan Smith of Birmingham; Grandson, Michael Smith of Stanton; Sister, Allene Lawley of Maplesville.

Friends were received from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Services were held Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Rasberry and

Rev. Jason Vinson officiating.

Interment

followed at Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery, Stanton, Ala.

Pallbearers were: Donnie Stone, Charles “Bubba” Stough, Jimmie Grier, Billy Gregg, Mike Walls and Mike Burnett. Honorary Pallbearers: Deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Tommy Gregg, Derek Weaver, Buddy Motley, Gene Carter.

A special Thanks to Dr, Boyd Bailey, Dr. John Mitchell, Dr. Drew White and The Resident Doctors at Selma Family Medicine Center, Nurses and staff at Montgomery Cancer Center in Selma, Vaughn Regional Medical Center and Warren Manor Nursing Home.

Dorothy Alison Riley

Dorothy Alison Riley, age 91, of Albany, Ga., died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, after a long and happy life. She was born Dorothy Knox Alison on June 8, 1916, to Dr. Samuel Beekman and Emma Lide Alison in Carlowville, Alabama. She was the widow of Page Elam “Duck” Riley.

She is survived by daughters Page Riley Loyd and Emily Riley Gale; sons-in-law Ernest Loyd and Nelson Gale; grandsons Ashland Nelson Gale III and Knox Riley Gale; granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Tate Gale; great-granddaughters Emma Madison Gale and Cosette Riley Gale.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their spouses: Alison and Bill McNutt; Minor Mason; Sam and Joyce Mason; Kathy and Jim Whittington; Tommy and Cathy Alison.

After graduating from Carlowville High School she earned a music degree from Alabama College (University of Montevallo). She taught at Carlowville High School and was organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Carlowville.

In 1961 she and her family moved to Albany, Ga., where she taught elementary and then public school music until her retirement.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for over 50 years. She was organist for many years at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (now St. John and St. Mark) and an active member until the end of her life.

She loved her Lord, her church, her family, her life and a good hand of bridge.

The funeral and burial will be Thursday Sept. 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlowville.

Her nephew, the Rev. Dr. Sam Mason, will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Tommy Alison, Bruce Owens, George Kyser, Doug Smith, Lyle Smith III, Jim Whittington.

A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of St. John and St. Mark in Albany, Ga., Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. Officiated by Rev. Joe Clift.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Episcopal Church of St. John and St. Mark, 2425 Cherry Laurel Lane, Albany, GA 31705. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Thurman Callen

Thurman Callen, 90, of Dallas County, passed away Sept. 24, 2007, at Shelby County Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Final arrangements entrusted to Lewis Brothers Funeral Home,Inc.
