Henrietta Williams

Miss Henrietta Williams, age 76, of Selma, Ala. died Monday Aug. 20, 2007, in Tuscaloosa,

Services will be held at

1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Lilly Grove Baptist with the Rev. David Moss officiating and directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors are four sons; Johnny Davis Jr., Cleophus Williams, Trent Wade Williams, and Donald Williams. Five daughters; Veronda Faye Jefferson, Yvonne (Clyde) Love, Virginia F. (Joseph) Hydeg, Patricia (Wayne) Savage, and Veronica (Eddie) Hooks. Two brothers; Herman Lewis and the Rev. David (Margie) Moss. Two sisters; Daisy (Tom) Quincy and Alberto Moss, 23 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, 4 sons-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews, and a very devoted and loving niece; Andrea Hall.

Pallbearers are family and friends.

The Rev. Alex Watts

The Rev. Alex Watts, 70, of Selma passed away Aug. 27, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at the Little Rock Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. S.M. Nelson officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Robert Jackson Chandler

Robert Jackson &8220;Jack&8221; Chandler, Selma resident, born Feb. 8, 1926, passed away Aug 28, 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William B. Chandler and Frieda Urmi Chandler and his wife Mildred Keith Chandler

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lorine Martin Chandler; his son, retired Colonel Robert Jackson Chandler Jr. (Jeanine Glass Chandler); his daughter Miriam Elaine Bearden (James Allen Bearden, Sr.); his step-sons, William H. Martin (Patricia) and Charles L. Martin, Jr. (Dawn).

He is survived by his grandchildren, Pamela Denise Ivey (Marc), Robert J. &8220;Bay&8221; Chandler, III (Ann), James Allen Bearden, Jr. (Carrie), Jonathan Ross Bearden (Gwen), and his great grandchildren, Alston Ivey, Grace Anne Ivey, Georgia Ann Chandler, Lilla Bay Chandler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A veteran of the United States Navy, he was stationed in Virginia during World War II.

Jack was an active volunteer in Boy Scouts for many years and continued to support scouting throughout his life.

He served on the Selma City Council from 1958-1960.

In his 50 years of service to Selma Water Works, he earned the Best Operated Water Plant for five consecutive years.

He also served as president and treasurer of the Alabama Water Pollution Control Association.

He received both the distinguished Charles M. White award and the Arthur M. Beck award for service in the water and waste water industry.

Jack loved the Selma Water Works and the time he spent there, even after his &8220;official&8221;

retirement.

He was a deacon and trustee at Valley Grande Baptist Church, where children and youth were his passion.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, 3 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, 7-8:30 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home. Officiating at his funeral will be the Rev. Mike Jackson, the Rev. Daniel Martin, and his friend Mayor James Perkins Jr.

Pallbearers will be Robert Jackson Chandler Jr., James Allen Bearden Sr., Jeffrey Marc Ivey, Robert Jackson Chandler III, James Allen Bearden Jr., Jonathan Ross Bearden, Gene Keith, Robert Bridges, and Paul Monroe Bearden.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Selma Water Works employees, Selma Water Board, Mayor James Perkins Jr., members of James Bearden’s Sunday School Class, and Valley Grande Baptist Church deacons and trustees.
