There are three public hearings set Monday that will give residents an opportunity to express their thoughts on various issues.

In Selma, the St. James Hotel is hosting a town hall meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Carl Morgan Convention Center.

Selma residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the open forum by sharing and offering ideas to the St. James marketing and facilitation team, Street Source Marketing.

Discussions will primarily focus around plans that attract visitors to the area as well as serve the needs of city residents.

The Selma City Council has scheduled its first public hearing seeking public input on whether city school board members should be elected or continue to be appointed by the council for Monday at 7 p.m. in the Carl Morgan Convention Center.

They, also, are seeking the public’s input.

Following input from the public gathered during the two planned public hearings, a bill would have to be sponsored in the State House of Representatives.

During the Valley Grande City Council meeting Monday at 7 p.m., a design firm will unveil the plan for the city’s Downtown District.

Valley Grande has encouraged public input throughout the process.

If you have an interest in knowing what’s going on in the area, and in having an opportunity to express a viewpoint, take the time to attend one of these town hall meetings Monday.
