Mattie M. Hall

Mattie M. Hall was born Jan. 17, 1937, to the late John and Alberta Walker in Selma.

She joined Freewill Christian Church, formerly Freewill Holiness Church, under the leadership of Elder Jerry Holman. She remained a faithful and dedicated member until failing health.

As a member, she served as a mother of the church, praying warrior and outreach missionary.

She will be remembered and sadly missed as a person with a beautiful smile and always willing to help others.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. at Freewill Christian Church with the Rev. Elder Jerry Holman officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Her body will lie in state at the church prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m.

She was preceded in death by a son, Cedric Hall; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Walker and Susie Steele; one brother, Willie Eldridge; and two grandchildren, Tomika Williams and Brandon DeJarnett.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories a loving former husband, Roosevelt Hall of Selma; seven loving and devoted children, Linda Walker of Buffalo, N.Y., Fredrick (Catherine) Walker of Birmingham, Phyllis Smith of Montgomery, Monica (Dan) Harold of Montgomery, Stefon Hall of Selma, Myra (Eddie) Blackmon of Montgomery and Terrance (Sandra) Hall of Prince George, Virginia; one loving and devoted sister, Lillian Terry of Statesville, N.C.; 11 loving and devoted grandchildren; six living great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Charlotte Elizabeth Stoudenmire

Charlotte Elizabeth Stoudenmire, age 60, of Selma died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ms. Stoudenmire is survived by her mother, Jewell Stoudenmire; brothers, Robert E. Stoudenmire of Maplesville, Ala., Gordon Stoudenmire of Selma and Steve Stoudenmire; sisters, Denene Stoudenmire of Clanton and Renee Stoudenmire of Selma; nieces, Sherri Stoudenmire, Kristie Sanders, Melissa Stoudenmire, and Tammy Bearden; four great-nieces and one great-nephew.
