Martha Wheeler

Ms. Martha Wheeler, age 80, of Orrville, Ala., died July 30, 2007 at Warren Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for August 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Marzette officiating. Burial will follow in Lily Grove Cemetery. Miller Funeral Service directing.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Gray; two brothers, Willie Lewis and Jimmy Lewis; and one sister, Ada Lewis-Atkins.

She is survived by one son, David Gray; one daughter-in-law, Debram Gray; two brothers, Robert Jackson and Carl Williams; six sisters, Rosie Lewis, Sallie Stark, Getrudye Steele, Ida Mae Lewis, Louise Lewis and Susie Delaagel; six grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nehews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Robert Crispin

Mr. Robert Crispin, age 85, of Demopolis, Ala., passed July 30, 2007 at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home, Demopolis, Ala.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Larkin & Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Richard Fountain, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery, Demopolis, Ala.

Shemaric Bennett

Infant Shemaric Bennett, of Orrville, Ala., died July 27, 2007 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Fulton Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Miller Funeral Service directing.

She is survived by her mother, Regenia K. Bennett.

Pallbearers will be her grandparents, Regina Simmons, Willie Bennett and Rosie Bennett.

SFC Sandy J. Grayson

SFC Sandy J. Grayson was called from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in Silver Spring, Maryland where he resided during his illness with his daughter, Sandra Grayson Battle.

He dedicated his life in the armed services where he served 24 years in the U.S. Army receiving an Honorable Discharge.

During his years of service he received the following decorations, medals and badges: Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Missle Man Badge, and the Gold Recruiter Badge.

He is survived by a loving and devoted daughter; son-in-law; three grandchildren; sister, Lola Anderson Doss of Selma; and two brothers, Woodrow Williams of Montgomery and Bishop Moses Anderson of Detroit, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Northern Heights Presbyterian Church at Marie Foster Street and Philpot Avenue on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.

Services entrusted to Walker Mortuary, 1703 Broad Street, Selma, Ala.

Wilbert Underwood

Mr. Wilbert Underwood, age 51, of Orrville, Ala., died July 30, 2007 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Keith High School gymnasium with the Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery, Orrville. Miller Funeral Service directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Underwood and Charlie M. and Freddie M. Shaw.

He is survived by his wife, Lee E. Underwood; three sons, Carlos Dillard, Robbyn Johnson and Wilbert Underwood Jr.; one daughter, Halee Underwood; three brothers, Frank Thomas of Racine, Wisconsin, Charles Underwood of Orrville, and Charlie Shaw Jr. of Florida; three sisters, Patricia Winston, Kathy Thomas and Natasha Shaw, all of Racine, Wisconsin; two grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; nine brother-in-law; seven sister-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; six aunts; four uncles; and his mother and father-in-law, Louise and John Johnson of Orrville.

Pallbearers will be his brother-in-laws.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith High School Class of 1974, Grady Broadnax, Percy Jones, Edward Flennory and Charles Jones.

Sally Ann Robinson

Ms. Sally Ann Robinson, age 44, of Florence, Kentucky, formerly of Selma, died July 29, 2007 in Florence, Kentucky.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Richard P. Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include her parents, Isaac and Evelyn Smith; two daughters, Yolanda Robinson and Patricia Robinson; two grandchildren, Amir Rice and McKeem Robinson; one brother, Isiah Smith; one sister, Evon (Willie) Norris; one special niece, Rachella Smith; a host of nieces

and nephews; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Bettie B. Holloway

Bettie B. Holloway, age 72, of Marion Junction, Ala., died July 28, 2007 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be August 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. at New Shiloh Baptist Church, Potter Station with the Rev. Dan M. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery, Orrville. Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Holloway, Sr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Harrell Sr.; one son, Baxter Ray Holloway; and one daughter, Lula Jones.

She is survived by one son, Paul (Gladys) Holloway, Jr.; four daughters, Anna Mae (David) Jones, Edith Holloway, Pauline (Roosevelt) Jones and Patsy (Thomas) Patterson.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Maurice Spencer

Mr. Maurice Spencer, age 32, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., formerly of Forkland, Ala., passed July 28, 2007 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Forkland, Ala. Rev. William Branch, Pastor. Rev. Willis Gulley, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday from 1 – 6 p.m.

Family hour will be held Friday from 7 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Mary Shannon Peoples

Mary Shannon Peoples, age 80, resident of Selma, died July 27, 2007 in Selma.

Funeral services are scheduled for August 4, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Sandridge Baptist Church with Rev. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Community Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse James Shannon and Henry Peoples; two daughters, Rose Mary White and Marie Gordon; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Donald Ellis Nevin Sr.

Donald Ellis Nevin, Sr., age 63, of Marion Junction, Ala., passed away August 2, 2007.

Surviving Mr. Nevin are his former wife, Darlene Nevin; sons, Donald E. (Pam), Nevin, Jr. and Donald Wayne (Denise) Cannon; daughter, Sheila Tucker; brother, Bill (Joann) Nevin; sisters, Linda Coleman and Ann Payne; grandchildren, Tyler Nevin, Brooks Cannon, Scott Cannon, Riley Tucker, Ashton Tucker and Reagan Tucker; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. and Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leroy Cole officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2007 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
