Wal-mart associates are asking members of the community to come by the store, not for a sale, but to

help an employee in need.

On Friday, Aug. 3, Store No. 700 will host a community cookout &8220;from 10 a.m. until&8221; for employee Sherone York, who suffered very serious injuries in a recent accident. She was hit by a drunk driver on her lunch break. She is currently in intensive care at a Birmingham hospital.

York is the mother of three, according to Lawson, and the youngest is still in diapers. School will soon be back in session so Lawson and Overnight Stock Person Pat Harrell got together and took the idea of a fundraiser to Store Manager Victor Morrow who approved the event.

Donations will also be collected.

According to Lawson other Wal-mart associates will volunteer their time to help man the cookout. Some are planning to use their lunch hour to assist with the fundraiser.

For more information, contact Mary Lawson at 874-7385 or Pat Harrell at 874-7793.
