Dr. Walter Leith Greene Jr.

Dr. Walter Leith Greene Jr., age 79, native of Morganton, N.C. and longtime Selma physician died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in a Montgomery hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007 at New Live Oak Cemetery officiated by Dr. Jack Lovelace and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Dr. Greene is survived by his son, Walter L. Greene III (Carolyn) of Montgomery; grandchildren, Walter Greene IV, Kathryn Wilkes Greene, Paige Stuart Greene, Henley Rice Barnes (Justin), Walter Blair Rice; and great grandchild Aidan Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Cotton Greene and daughter, Elizabeth Leigh Greene.

Dr. Greene was an alumni of VMI (Virginia Military Institute) where he completed the Rat Line.

He graduated from Wake Forest University where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.

He then went on to Bowman Gray Medical School and then completed his residency as an intern at UAB.

Dr. Greene was also a lifetime member of the American Legion.
