Mary Lou Willis

Mary Lou Willis, age 89, of Thomasville, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007, at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville.

She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Thomasville. She was a former sales clerk with Bedsoles Department Store. She was a member of Thomasville Baptist Church.

Visitation was at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville on Saturday, July 28 from 1:30 to 2 p.m. with Dr. Robert Kirkland officiating.

Burial was at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.

She is survived by her brother, Johnnie Floyd Overstreet of Thomasville; sister, Agnes Ward of Granbury, Texas; granddaughter, Debra Patterson of Monroe, La.; two great-grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews.

Lorence Motley

Mr. Lorence Motley, age 57, of Selma, died July 21, 2007 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Greater St. Joseph A.M.E. Church with Rev. Thomas Durden officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Miller Funeral Service directed.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Motley; two sons, Alonzo (Michelle) Motley and David (Frances) Hardy; one daughter; Antoinette (Ron) Martin; five brothers, Willie (Betty) Cyrus, George (Mary) Motley, Nathaniel Motley, Michael (Donnetta) Durden and Thomas (Marie) Durden; two sisters, Felicia (Charles) Brooks and Dorothy (Winston) Lee; a host of nieces and nephews; a special aunt, Olla Bell Houser; and two grandchildren, ShandricQua Motley and Ron Martin.

Mary Peoples, age 80, of Selma died Friday, July 27, 2007, in Selma.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.

Paul Lamar Frith

Paul Lamar Frith, 79, of Selma passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2007, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 6 to p.m., Monday, July 30 at Selma Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 10 a.m., officiated by Dr. Kenny Hatcher and directed by Selma Funeral Home.

Mr. Frith is survived by his wife of 57 years Joy; sons, Andrew (Beverly) Frith, and daughters Carol Councill of Dallas, Texas, Linda Joy (Chris) Bailey of Attalla, Ala., and Paula (Tom) Clements of Lynn Haven, Fla., grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Apex, N.C., Andrew Davis Bailey, and Forrest Bailey, of Attalla, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert B. Frith, mother, Ida Barrett Frith and son, William Perry Frith.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Maluda, Darran Frith, John Clibrey, Dale Martin, Steve Martin, Alvis Frith, Alan Wimberley and Tony Frith.

Garnette Johnson

Garnette Johnson, age 43, of Selma, died July 21, 2007, at the family home. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28 at noon at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Pastor John Smith officiating. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery. Miller Funeral Service directed.

Survivors include her spouse, Claude James Johnson; her mother, Ms. Lucy Ree Williams; two sons, E’drea Chrisholm and Erica Williams; one daughter, Janet Shardne; five brothers, Willie Miller, David Cunningham, Willie Williams, David Williams and Carl Williams; three sisters, Annie White, Lucy Lee and Dannell Wilson; one grandchild; five brother-in-laws; seven sister-in-laws; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were family and friends.
