Selma advances in tournament

ENTERPRISE – The Selma 14-year-old All Stars got the weekend off to a good start and continued to rack up the wins this summer.
The team took a win Friday night in the Southern Division State Tournament.
Selma advanced to the tournament in Enterprise by winning a pair of tight games in the finals against Prattville last week.
Connor Thorpe held Troy scoreless over six innings in a 6-3 win.
Thorpe earned the win by striking out nine batters, allowing two hits and walking one.
Jabaris Hardy and Daniel Blackmon led the way for Selma’s offense with a pair of hits.
Ja’Shombe Smith tripled and scored a run. Nathan Irwin, Austin Crocker and Joseph Watters also had hits.
Selma moved on to the next round and played Sunday.
