Buddy Perkins has been appointed by Gov. Bob Riley to serve on the Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority (CFAIA).

Perkins’ appointment fills the fifth seat on the Authority’s board.

Currently going through the learning curve, Perkins is optimistic about his new position.

With his background, Menzo Driskell, CFAIA executive director believes Perkins’ learning curve will be short and he will be a great asset to the Authority and to Dallas County.

Perkins retired from MacMillan Bloedel in Pine Hill, a billion dollar company acquired by Weyerhaeuser in 1999, on Jan, 1, 2000, after 18 years. Prior to that, he worked for International Paper for 15 years.

Since his retirement, Perkins has worked as a consultant and has done some executive recruiting.

Perkins said he’s done &8220;six start-up operations in five or six states.&8221;
