Cherry Bennett Nichols

Cherry Bennett Nichols age 73, of Plantersville, Ala., died Friday, June 29, 2007.

Visitation was at Lawrence Funeral Home on Sunday, July 1, 2007 from 6:00 – 8:00

p.m. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007 at Plantersville Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Plantersville Christian Cemetery.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Charlie) Smith of Marietta, Ga., and Ramona Nichols of Tuscaloosa, his son, Ben (Kay) Nichols of Lawrenceville, Ga., grandchildren, Shea (Bryan) Brock, Karla Smith, Kyndal Smith, Kyle Nichols, Kayla Nichols, and Kirsten Nichols, and 3 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Peyton, and Alli.

He is also survived by his sisters, Bobbie Edwards, Lajuana Mehan, and Betty Smitherman, brothers, Huey Nichols and Chester Nichols, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Tony Mehan, Barry Mehan, Steve Smitherman, Jimmy Edwards, Smitty Smitherman, Roger Nichols, Randy Edwards, Ed Smith, George Sherrer, and John T. Sherrer.

Honorary pallbearers are former AmSouth coworkers and members of Plantersville community. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of choice.

Mr. Nichols retired from AmSouth Bank after over 40 years of service and drove a school bus for Dallas County High School for 10 years after his retirement.

Pastor Willie J. Gaines, Jr., age 74, of 165 Kirkwood Drive,

Eutaw, Alabama passed June 26, 2007 at his residence.

Worship services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the St. Matthew Watson Baptist Church, Boligee, Alabama.

Rev. Fred Moore will officiate.

Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The remains will repose at the church on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Public viewing will be held Monday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
