Evva Belle Woolf

Evva Belle Woolf, age 99, of Myrtlewood, Ala., passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Willows Assisted Living in Bay Minette, Ala.

She was born January 9, 1908, in Montgomery, Ala. She was retired from the Department of Human Resources after beginning her career in teaching in 1928.

She was a member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church since 1940. She was also a member of the Linden Garden Club and the Myrtlewood Community Club.

The family received friends at the Mrs. Woolf’s home (Highway 69 in Myrtlewood, Ala.) on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Camp Ground United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ed Rose officiating. Burial will be at Camp Ground UMC Cemetery in Sweet Water, Ala.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Joe) Hendrickson of Bay Minette, Ala.; brother, Winston Moseley of Thomaston, Ala.; sister, Mattie Pearl Mason of Linden, Ala.; granddaughter, Ev’ (Bob) Gunn of Birmingham, Ala.; grandson, Holmes (Kim) Hendrickson of Dothan, Ala.; great-granddaughter, Maggie Gunn, age nine, of Birmingham, Ala.; and two great-grandsons, Ashby Hendrickson, age 6, of Dothan, Ala., and Rob Gunn, age 4, of Birmingham, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ashby H. Woolf.

Active Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her Sunday School class at Camp Ground United Methodist Church and Buck Compton.

Gertrude Detrion Turner

Gertrude Detrion Turner, age 75, of New Orleans, La., died Wednesday, June 20, 2007.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, La., with Rev. Sidney Joshua officiating.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her four daughters, Bonita (Nathaniel) Lewis, Barbara Turner, Regina Turner and Sandra (Robert) Garrett; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Melvin Turner Sr. and her two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
