Jack Gilford Nelson
Jack Gilford Nelson, 81, of Valley Grande, Ala., died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at his residence.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2006 at Selma Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held in New Live Oak Cemetery on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Mike Wyatt and directed by Selma Funeral Home.
Jack is survived by his brothers, George Nelson of Birmingham, Ala., and Robert Nelson of Bremerton, Wash.; nephews, Nelson (Melinda) Andrews, Mark Andrews and Jack Kevin Andrews of Valley Grande, Ala., and his great niece, Sarah (David) Ratliff of Groton, Conn.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Carmen Willis, Allie Andrews, Dorothy Nicol, and his brothers, Lawrence Nelson and James Nelson.
Jack was a WWII Veteran and an active member of V.F.W. Post 3016, and an avid golfer who loved golfing with his friends.
He also loved cooking and back yard raised bed gardening.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Cahaba Hospice, the American Cancer Society of a charity of your choice.

Roy Barge Sr.
Roy Barge Sr., age 90, resident of Selma, passed away May 10, 2007 at a local hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at New Shiloh Baptist Church with Minister Isaac Lamar officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral directing.
Survivors include nine children plus a host of siblings, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
