Josetta

McReynolds Smith

Josetta was born January 28, 1969, to Rosie E. McReynolds and the late Council McReynolds, Sr. Josetta was married to Arthur Smith III in August 1996.

She was the mother of two children, Antone J. McReynolds and Arthur Smith IV.

Josetta was a sister to seven siblings, two of which preceded her in death, Daniel L. McReynolds Sr. and Dean McReynolds.

Remaining siblings are, Mary McReynolds of Selma, Joseph (Tina) McReynolds of Kileen, Texas, Jeffrey (Mary) McReynolds of Augusta, Ga., Kalim (Emma) Mohammad, Council McReynolds Jr. both of Selma. Grandmother, Elizabeth Robbins; one aunt, Lizzie Leonard of Amite, La.; one uncle, George McReynolds of Birmingham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Leroy Hill

Mr. Leroy Hill, age 81, son of the late Benjamin and Charity Hill, passed on April 8, 2007, in Dallas, Texas.

The funeral and burial were held in Long Beach, Calif., on April 14, 2007.

Leroy’s early education was obtained in the Dallas County School system.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and retired in 1965.

He was awarded the Korean Service (2) Medal, UN/China Service, and the Navy Occupation Good Conduct Medals for his contribution during the war years.

After retiring from the military he was employed by GTE of Long Beach, Calif., for 19 years.

He was a member of Grant AME Church in Long Beach, Calif., for many years.

After relocating to Dallas, Texas, he joined the St. Paul’s AME Church.

Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice and son, Kevin.

He leaves loving memories with his son, Anthony (Mildred); five grandchildren, three brothers, Ben, Eugene, and John Hill; four sisters, Lillie Thompson, Mildred Parker, Earnestine Callens, and Marjorie Remy; one uncle, Joseph Mitchell and aunt, Beulah Mitchell; and a very special friend, Constance Springer.

Leroy completed a book on his life entitled “From Selma

to the Super Bowel.”

It will be published by Joshua Tree Publishing Co. in May 2007.
