Art is a passion and the works and techniques are specific to each artist.

A reception is being held today at 1 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. The works of Peggy Milburn Brown of Montgomery will be displayed.

Brown’s works, “Something Old, Something New,” will be on display until May 31.

“There are traditional type things in it and a newer look with the abstract,” she said.

An artist whose works consist of many different types of mediums says she likes “to experiment.”

“It depends on what strikes my fancy,” she said.

The wife of a Air Force soldier, Brown has traveled all over the U.S. and Europe and been inspired by many artists, cultures, and scenes of nature.

“I like different processes,” she said. “A lot of my works end up being mixed media.”

A member of the Selma Art Guild, some may have seen some of Brown’s works before, as she has shown her works here before.

Retired from teaching Graphics Design at Auburn University Montgomery, Brown says she now gets to do what she loves all the time.

“I’ve been busy, busy, busy in my studio,” she said.
