Yolanda Faye Whitely

Yolanda Faye Whitely, age 46, of Selma, Ala., died on April 11, 2007 at Vaughan Regional Medical center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church with Rev. Booker T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Marion Junction with Lewis Brother Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jameka Merritt Whitely of Selma, Ala.; one brother, Christopher Whitely of Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Joyce Whitely of New York, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Tonya Beal Whitely; two nephews, Javares Whitely and Donovan Winters; two nieces, Kristin Whitely and Camryn Rogers; and a special friend, Anthony Cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Whitely-Whitt and A.C. Cherry.

Honeycutt C. English

Honeycutt C. English, 87, formerly of Selma, passed April 14, 2007 at Tuskegee VA Hospital.

Funeral will be 12 noon, Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Herman Williams officiating. Burial in Fairlawn Memory Garden with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Leedell Jones

Ms. Leedell Jones, age 74, of Marion, Ala., died on April 12, 2007 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Old Oak Grove with Rev. Walter Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: three sons, Luke, Jr., Prince, and J.D.; four daughters, Margie Martin, Helen Kennie, Fannie Jones and Bertha Jones; two brothers, Willie Huff and Ben Huff; two sisters, Tine Pryor and Bertha Mahan; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a host of nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis and one brother, James Huff.

Mr. Willie Smiley

Mr. Willie Smiley, age 65, of Selma, Alabama died on April 17, 2007 at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roosevelt Marzette officiating. Burial will follow in Isabella with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: brothers, sisters, a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mary P. Smith

Mary P. Smith, of Selma, Ala., died on April 19, 2007 in Selma.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Walker Mortuary.

Eunice T. Henry

Eunice T. Henry of Selma went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2007.

She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Selma. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers with Bellsouth.

She was the most wonderful mother in the “whole wide world” and surrogate mother to her entire extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband George H. “Peg” Henry, Jr.; sister, Polly Hammond; father C.M. “Papa” Travis; and her mother, Lorene “Big Mama” Travis.

Mrs. Henry was survived by her sons Bob Ruff (Vivian) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Larry Ruff (Beverly) of Birmingham, Alabama and George Henry (Pat) of Selma, Alabama; brothers Russell Travis (Jonnie) and Bill Travis (Carolyn); ten grandchildren: Robert (Tommie)Ruff, Richard Ruff, Misty H. (Marshall) Clancey, Houston Tucker Henry, Joshua Lynn (Olga) Henry and Marandah Henry and ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews including Linda Barnes, Jimmy Ruff, Cindy Easterling, David Ruff, Debbie Vanoy, Barbara Griffith, Nancy Travis and Rusty Travis.

The family will receive friends at Selma Funeral Home Saturday, April 21 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Robert Bain and Rev. Glen King officiating.

Internment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Travis, Tucker Henry, Josh Henry, Webb Travis, David Ruff, Jimmy Ruff, Richard Ruff and Robert Ruff.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Park Place Nursing Home and Rehab center, Dr. Julian Howell and staff at Selma Medical Associates and the Vaughan Regional Medical Center ER and ICU. The family also wishes to thank the congregation of Overlook Hills Church of God.
