Kelvin B. Watson

Kelvin (Lite-Bread) B. Watson, age 35, of Orrville, Ala., died on April 4, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Keith High Gymnasium with Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery in Orrville, Ala., with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: parents, Lillie Jackson of Atlanta, Ga. and Sherman Thomas of Selma, Ala.; one son, DeVonte’ T. Rembert; one daughter, Tierra C. Rembert; three sisters, Debra Watson, Tamara (Phillip) Vincent of Atlanta, Ga. and Katrina (Greg) Jones of Montgomery, Ala.; two nieces, three nephews; eighteen aunts; twelve uncles; two grandmothers, Clara Love Watson and Idelia Thomas.

Pallbearers will be the class of 1992.

Mr. Willie Boyd

Mr. Willie Boyd, age 60, of Birmingham, Ala., died on Friday, April 6, 2007 at South Health Rehabilitation in Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Olive #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Sardis, Ala. with Rev. Whayman L. Fairbanks officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive #1 Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing. The body will lay-in-state from 11-12 noon.

Survivors include: spouse, Lucille Odom Boyd; parents, Dora Crumpton and Columbus Boyd; three sons, St. Christopher Shine of Springfield, Ohio, Bobby and Christopher White, Sr. of Birmingham, Ala.; two daughters, Julia and Charlotte Shine of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, Columbus Boyd, Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Doris (Willie) McDole of Selma, Ala. and Elizabeth Smith of Detroit, Mich.; ten grandchildren; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-laws; two aunts, Stallie Stallworth and Angie Robinson of Selma, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Charles Edward Durgan (Reefi)

Charles Edward Durgan (Reefi), age 59, died on April 2, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. L. L. Ruffin officiating and J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Charles (Reefi) drove cab #44 for Eastside Cab Company for a number of years before making his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he resided until his death.

Reefi was a very kind lovely good hearted person.

His health started to fail him but he still was Reefi, whom we loved dearly.

Alvin Ray

Alvin Ray, age 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 11, 2007.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007 in the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Ray was a resident of Selma, Ala. and most recently Millbrook, Ala. Mr. Ray retired from the United Methodist Children’s Home, Selma, after many years of loyal service.

Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Springfield Ray.

He is survived by two sons, Jim (Marilyn) Ray and Carl (Jan) Ray, and by the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Michelle Ray Byrd, Michael Ray, Ginny Ray and Renea Chappelle, four great grandchildren Morganne and Jessica Atchley and Adali and M.J Ray and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ray leaves a legacy of his love and faithfulness to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pallbearers are Jerry Ray, Aubrey Ray, Jim Ray, William Halliburton, Nick Lamons and Michael Byrd.

Honorary pallbearers are Mike Harper, Gene McDaniels and Randy McDaniels.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Children’s Harbor, 1 Our Children’s Hwy, Childrens Harbor, Ala. 35010-8620.

Leroy Lett

Leroy Lett, born May 22, 1912, Muskogee, Fla., and life long resident of Daphne, Ala., passed this life at his home on Tuesday, April 10, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Daphne, Ala.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Beverly (David) Lee of Selma, Ala.; grandsons, Kelvin Lett and Anthony Bonner; two sons, Willie E. (Louise) Mayhand of Oxen Hill, Md., and Cecil E. Lett of Daphne, Ala.; one brother, Rev. Charles A. Lett of Selma, Ala.; one sister, Roberta (Jasper) Williams of Mobile, Ala.; one devoted nephew, Rev. Clarence (Geraldine) Lett of Mobile, Ala.; god-child, Zenobia Robertson of Selma, Ala.; and devoted cousins, John and Marilyn Harris of Selma, Ala.

Annie Hinson

Annie Hinson, age 67 a resident of Hayneville, Ala., died April 6, 2007.

Janesha MaKayah Gragg

Infant girl, Janesha MaKayah Gragg passed away April 10, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Johnny Lee Fitts and an uncle, Michael Pasley.

Surviving are her parents Brandon and Belinda Gragg; brother, Jamarkus Goldsby; grandparents, Carrie Goldsby, Selener Gragg and Frederick Milhouse; aunts, AnDranika Milhouse, Keshia Goldsby, Diane Fitts, Latorie Langridge and Tysharica Milhouse; uncles, Tracy Pasley, Samuel Pasley and Sherman Gragg; eight great aunts, eight great uncles and a host of cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clark Cole officiating.

Interment will be in Saint Chapel Cemetery in Bogue Chitto, Ala.

Mrs. Cleo Jones, of Hartford, CT, formerly of Jefferson, Ala., passed recently in Hartford, Conn.

Marvin J. Smith, age 19, a native of Hayneville, Ala., died on April 7, 2007.

Mr. Harvey L. McDonald, Jr.

Mr. Harvey L. McDonald, Jr., age 20, of Hueytown, Ala., formerly of Boligee, Ala., passed April 8, 2007 at Greene County hospital in Eutaw, Ala.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the Paramount Jr. High School Auditorium in Boligee, Ala. Rev. Christopher Stepney will officiate. Interment will follow in Taylor Place Cemetery in Boligee, Ala.

Public viewing will be held Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Glen Adams Crosskey

Glen Adams Crosskey, age 90, a native of Lowndes County died on April 7, 2007.

Funeral Services will be held

Mrs. Glen Adams Crosskey, a resident of New Jersey formerly of Lowndes County, Ala., passed away at her home in Barnegat, New Jersey on Saturday April 7, 2007.

Mrs. Glen Adams Crosskey is survived by her daughters, Ann Louise Aarons, Charlie M. Rudolph, Doris J. McCaskill-Daivison, and son Thomas Crosskey; and numerous grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the chapel of Bell Funeral Home in Hayneville, Ala.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Church of Christ Hook Street, in Fort Deposit, Ala.

Mary E. Martin

Mary E. Martin, age 92, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Dallas County, died April 10, 2007 in Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Orrville, Ala., with Rev. Dwight Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: one sister, Maggie Arnold and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Clara Mitchell

Clara Mitchell, age 99, passed in a local hospital on April 9, 2007.
