Donald Wayne Smith, Sr.

Donald Wayne Smith, Sr. age 64, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at his home in Selma.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Jim Shoemake officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife- Marie Connell Smith of Selma; sons- Don Smith, Jr. and wife Carla; daughters- Leslie Free and husband Matt; brothers- Richard Smith and wife Dot of Heflin, Ala.; sister-in-law- Mae Smith of Oxford, Ala.; granchildren- Corey Smith, Tyler Smith, Noah Smith, Hannah Free, Matthew Free; two nephews and two nieces; special caregivers- Stephanie Hill and Gloria Hill.

Mr. Smith is deceased by mother – Eva Francis Smith; father – Leo Smith; and brother – Jame L. Smith.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made to Westwood Baptist Church or to Wiregrass Hospice.

Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Westwood Baptist Church.

Edward Earl Hancock

Edward Earl Hancock, age 77, of Selma died Tuesday April 10, 2007 at home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday April 12, 2007 at Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Coopers, Ala., officiated by Rev Daniel Martin and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mr. Hancock is survived by his children, Linda Hancock (Roland) Harrison, Mike (Deborah) Hancock, and Cynthia Hancock, all of Selma, grandchildren, Ed Harrison, Holli (Chris) Closson, Heidi Hawke, all of Dothan, Emily Hancock, and Erin (Steve) Wilson of Selma, great Grandchildren, Duffy Harrison, Chandler Grace Closson, and Abbey Closson all of Dothan.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hancock, Ray Harrison, Roland Hamilton, Tony Bulger, Ed Harrison, and Gordon McLendon.

Barbara Ann Shelton

Barbara Ann Shelton, age 55, of Plantersville, Ala., died on April 6, 2007 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Cabbil officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: one brother, Allen Shelton (Hattie) of Selma, Ala.; two sisters, Doretha and Jackie Hamilton of Detroit, Ala.; two nephews, two nieces, one uncle, one aunt, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Charles Edward Durgan

Charles Edward Durgan (Reefi), age 59, died on April 2, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1 p.m. at J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. L. L. Ruffin officiating and J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Charles (Reefi) drove cab #44 for Eastside Cab Company for a number of years before making his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he resided until his death.

Reefi was a very kind lovely good hearted person.

His health started to fail him but he still was Reefi, whom we loved dearly.

Clara Mitchell

Clara Mitchell, age 99, passed in a local hospital on April 9, 2007.

Final arrangements will be announced at a later date by J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Corneilus Hatcher

Mr. Corneilus Hatcher, age 27, of Orrville, Ala., died on April 11, 2007 at his residence.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Servcie.

Ms. Mary E. Martin

Ms. Mary E. Martin, age 92, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Dallas County, died on April 6, 2007 in Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.

Mr. Walter Drury (Buddy) Caine, Sr.

Mr. Walter Drury (Buddy) Caine, Sr., a native of Dallas County, Ala., born on October 20, 1921, a former resident of Selma and a lifetime resident of Mobile died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at his residence.

He was a career milk Distributor for Barber’s Milk Company in Selma, an active member of the Selma Jaycee’s and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Selma.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Kitty Lee Caine and Alice Caine Sealey.

Mr. Caine is survived by his wife, Kitty Clark Caine of Alabaster, Ala.; his children, Walter Drury (Yvonne) Caine, Jr. of Mobile, Ala., Tereesa Caine Sparks of Auburn, Ala., Anne Carson Caine (Scott) Cutler of Ogden, Utah, Rosemary Caine (Eric) Aycock of Dana Point, Calif., and Priscilla Caine (Charles) Haggard of Alabaster, Ala.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Alva Caine Hill, Walter Ronald Hill, Jared Brett Caine, Charles Edward Haggard, and John Eric Overstreet.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Ala.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile, Ala.

Funeral arrangements are by Pine Crest Funeral Home of Mobile, Ala.

Graveside service arrangements are by Lawrence Funeral home of Selma, Ala.

Mr. Willie Boyd

Mr. Willie Boyd, age 60, of Birmingham, formerly of Dallas County, died on April 6, 2007 at South Health Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.

George R. Woolson

George R. Woolson passed on Good Friday, April 6, 2007 at Birmingham Hospital.

The family will announce arrangements at a later date.
