Staff Report

The Selma City Council’s regular meeting is set for today at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

City streets may seem a little more crowded this week, as major thoroughfares will be closed for railroad crossing repairs, causing motorists to take alternative routes.

The crossing on Jeff Davis Avenue at the city’s landfill will be closed Tuesday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no thru traffic during these hours. On Wednesday, April 11, the Water Avenue railroad crossing will be under repair and will be closed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Motorists usually traveling these routes are asked to make alternative plans for other routes. Traffic eastbound on Jeff Davis may have to take Hooper Drive to Dallas Avenue during the hours closed. An alternative route for Wednesday’s closing of Water Avenue at the Old Depot Museum may be Selma Avenue or Alabama Avenue to Maxey Street, back to Water Avenue.
