Martha Ann Morphis Vice

Martha Ann Morphis Vice, age 70, of Selma died Saturday, March 31, 2007 in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held Monday April 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery officiated by Rev. Micah Gandy and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vice is survived by her children, Terry (Cindy) Vice of Holtville, Teresa (Ronnie) Roberts of Selma, Marty (DeDe) Vice of Selma, grandchildren, Brandon (Candice) Vice of Selma, Ashley (Shane) Gilchrist of Gadsden, Caitie Bentley of Holtville, Shawn (Jaime) Roberts of Selma, Amy (Brian) Manley of Selma, Lindsey Vice of Selma, great-grandchildren, Parker Vice, Piper Gilchrist, Maisy Gilchrist, Dylan Roberts, and Emma Roberts, brother, Q.T. (Linda) Morphis of Chattanooga, Tenn., Melvin Morphis of Franklin, Tenn., sisters-in-law, Isabelle Morphis of Ward, Ann Morphis of Meridian, Miss., Lan Morphis of Enterprise, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Irene Morphis, son, Charles Joel Vice, and brothers, Homer Morphis, Joe Morphis, and Charles Morphis.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Morphis, Shane Gilchrist, Brandon Vice, Ronnie Roberts, Shawn Roberts, and Brian Manley.

Cindy Mae Browder

Cindy Mae Browder, age 62, resident of Selma, Ala., passed away March 30, 2007 at her home.

Funeral Services are April 4, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Buriel Beal officiating.

Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. directing.

She is survived by one son, Turner Browder, Jr.

Clyde E. Yelverton Sr.

Clyde E. Yelverton, Sr., age 80, died at his home in Dothan, March 31, 2007.

Funeral services will be graveside at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown, Alabama, April 3, 2007 at 11:00

a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Hays McKay and the Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating.

Following burial, the family will receive friends at Uniontown First United Methodist Church.

On Monday, the family will be at the home of Mary G. Auburtin, Marion, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Yelverton was born in Uniontown, Alabama, October 2, 1926, to V.S. and Zelma Yelverton.

He finished high school in Uniontown and attended Marion Institute.

He served in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Campaign, in World War II.

Following his discharge he was engaged in dairy and cattle farming in Uniontown and later owned an automobile dealership there.

He also served as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Montgomery.

In 2001 they moved to Dothan, where he became a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stanley Griffin Yelverton; a sister, Geneva Givhan; and two brothers, J.C. and Glenn Yelverton.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Mildred Griffin Yelverton; two sons and their wives, Clyde E., Jr. and Robin Yelverton, of Dothan and Jim and Pam Yelverton, Englewood, Florida; four grandchildren, Lindsay and James Yelverton of Englewood, Andrea and Clyde Yelverton, III of Dothan; two sisters, Jewell Harrison and Linda Jackson, both of Montgomery.

Mamie Kelly

Mamie Kelly, age 93, resident of Selma, Ala., passed away March 28, 2007 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion PB Church on Union Street, with Rev. Bryan Starks officiating.

Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham with Miller Funeral Service directing.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, LuElla Wilson and Mary Grayson, one brother, Edward Chapman, three sisters, Marie Likely, Malinda Harp, and Vanetta Dexter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She also is survived by her special friends, Josie Marshall, Johnny White and Melvin Speirs.

Elizabeth Louise Turner Barnes

Elizabeth Louise Turner Barnes, age 82, of Monroeville, formerly of Selma, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Monroeville.

She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy B. Shand of Selma, Donna B. Veal of Charleston, South Carolina, and Diane B. Gaines of Autaugaville, six sons, Oliver E. Barnes of Monroeville, Ronnie B. Barnes of Selma, Larry W. Barnes of LaGrange, Georgia, Roger J. Barnes of Jackson, Henry Michael Barnes of Little Rock, Arkansas and Robert P. Barnes of Louisville, Kentucky, brother, Jack Turner of Orrville, 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Laura Turner and her husband, Walter B. Barnes.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimers Foundation.

Ella Mae Richardson

Ella Mae Richardson, 69, a resident of Selma, passed March 31, 2007 at a local hospital.

Final arrangements will be announced at a later time by J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

Rodney L. Withers

Rodney L. Withers, age 37, resident of Selma, Ala., passed away April 1, 2007.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Walker Mortuary.
