Donald Adair Morgan Jr.

Donald Adair Morgan Jr., age 59, of Selma died February 27, 2007.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2007 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Don was born March 1, 1947 at the Old King Memorial Hospital in Selma.

He is the Son of the late Ret. Major Donald A. Morgan Sr. USAF and survived by his mother, Elsie C. Morgan and brother, Duane C. Morgan of Selma.

He proudly served in the USMC as a Sergeant Stateside as well as a tour in Vietnam.

He was a caring son who took care of his mother to his very end.

He would have wanted all his surviving aunts and cousins to know of his undying love for each and everyone of them.

The family request no flowers and that donations be made to favorite charity.

Howard M. Gray

Howard M. Gray, age 76, of Selma, AL, passed away February 28, 2007 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Rimmer officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Gray; two daughters, Shirley G. (Donald) Seal and Joyce G. (Bob) Jacobs; one brother, Charles P. Gray; one sister, Mary Ready; and three grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Seal, Christoper (Pam) Jacobs and Justin Jacobs.

Mr. Gray was an avid Model A fan and loved to fish.

He helped form the River Oaks Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a member of Orrville United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Herman Majors, Calvin Bowie, Bill Kendrick, Henry Davenport, Buddy Davenport and Richard Boozer.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Infant Kamaria Katricia Nettles

Infant Kamaria Katricia Nettles, passed away February 26, 2007.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Eugene Taylor officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by her father, Cacentra Smith; mother, Monique N. Nettles; grandparents, Tyra and Michael Boykin and Katrina Nettles; great grandparents, Evelyn Murray, Anne Nettles and Clarence Murray; uncles, Michael Nettles and Clinton Wheaton; and aunts, Australia Nettles, Farren Sullivan, Jessica Nettles, Ericka Boykin, Danielle Moorer and Jocelyn Brown.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Williams and Michael Nettles.

Olanda Black

Olanda Black, age 55, a native of Faunsdale, Ala., resident of Atlanta Ga., died Saturday, February 24, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at The Word of Faith Worship Cathedral with Rev. Bryan Starks offering the eulogy. Riley Rucker Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: Bettye Black; two sons, Brent O. Black and Kenneth Black; a loving mother, Viola Black of Faunsdale, Ala.; one sister, Elaine (Byron) Starks of Uniontown, Ala.; two brothers, Anthony (Vivian) Black of Selma, Alton (Yvette) Black of Springvalley, CA; four grandchildren, Keyna Black, Brent O. Black, Jr., Kenneth Black, Jr., Tyree McClure; two devoted friends; Samuel Johnson and Bennie Cookie. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Alma Fitts Scarsbrook

Alma F. Scarsbrook, age 91, passed away on February 26, 2007 in Gadsden, Ala.

Funeral services will be

at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Guy Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Orrville Cemetery.

Mrs. Scarsbrook was preceded in death by her husband, Weston Scarsbrook; sister, Thelma Fitts West; brothers, Carl and Alfred Fitts, sister-in-law, Mary Ella Fitts, and special niece; Carolyn Wilson.

Mrs. Scarsbrook is survived by her son Donald Scarsbrook of Atlanta, Ga., daughter; Patti S. McFarland of Rainbow City, Ala., and grandchildren, Jodi and Zack McFarland of Rainbow City, Ala. She had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was born in Stanton, Ala. and lived in Orrville and Selma.

She attended Livingston University.

She was a schoolteacher for many years at Orrville Elementary Scholl, Perry Christian School, and Meadowview Christian School.

She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Teaching school was the joy of her life.

She also enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She lived many years in Orrville and her friends there always had a special place in her heart.

Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Merrill Gardens of Albertville, Ala. who treated her with love, kindness and patience during her final years.

Sadie B. White

Sadie B. White, age 84, of Selma, AL died on February 23, 2007 at Lighthouse Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Legrand St. with Pastor F. D. Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memorial Gardens with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Survivors include: three sons, William (Ethel) Phillips of Goldsboro, NC, Mitchell White of Jonesboro, Ga. and Charles White; one daughter, Roberta (Floyd) Tolbert of Selma; one brother, Joseph Edwards of Selma; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Thomas Edward

“Ned” Farish

Thomas Edward “Ned” Farish, age 80, of Selma, passed away February 27, 2007.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Chappelle officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at 2:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil D. Farish; two sons, Buddy Farish and his wife Kim and Glenn Farish and his wife Karla; two sisters, Rosa Mae Sharpe and Dorothy Hartmann and three grandchildren, Nathaniel Cole Farish, Bailey Kathryn Farish and John C. Bennett, Jr.

Mr. Farish worked for Alabama Power Company for 42 years.

He served active duty in the U. S. Navy from May 1944 to June 1946.

While in the Navy he served on the USS Arlington.

He was a member of Valley Grande Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be members of James Beardens Sunday School Class at Valley Grande Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sidney Trammell, Sol Tepper, Louie Adkison, Ciegel Miley, Warren Collins, Charles Reeves, Charles Hubbard, Scott Mitchell, A. J. Wells, Jack Sharpe, Jr., Richard Godwin, Jamie Pitts, and Milton Harrison.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Valley Grande Baptist Church.
