Leonard Morris Barton, Jr. “Morry” passed away on January 20, 2007 in Birmingham, AL.
Graveside services will be Monday, January 22, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sardis, AL with the Revs. George Sedberry, Jack Lovelace and
Travis Barnes officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Justice; son, Leonard Morris Barton III
“Morris” mother, Jeanne S. Coleman, stepfather, Rennie C. Coleman, sisters Sharon Barton Hardy (Jack), Lynn Barton Duffy (Robert), nephews Robert Bradford Duffy (Deedee) and K. Barton Duffy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Morris Barton, Sr., and nephew, Joseph Spivey Hardy.
Pallbearers will be Lea Scruggs, John Brock, Cheyenne Bradford, Larry Justice, Danny Robertson, Todd Stewart, Barry Parker and Jon Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all employees of Moore – Stewart Ford.
Visitation was held Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Selma Funeral Home.

Doris Dickson Plant Thomas
Doris Dickson Plant Thomas died Saturday, Jan 20, 2007 at her home in Selma. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Selma, with The Rev. Polk Van Zandt officiating. Burial will be in New Live Oak Cemetery, Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Her husband of 42 years, William Henry Plant Jr. and her brother Robert Stiles Dickson Jr. preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband James Edwin Thomas of Selma, her daughters Mildred Plant Masten (Dan) of Kingston Springs, Tennessee, and Mary Ann Plant of Selma; her stepdaughter Patricia Thomas Bethel (Timothy) of Bay Village, Ohio, her stepson James Edwin Thomas Jr. (Linda) of Montgomery, and her sisters Anne Dickson Kidd (James) of Birmingham and Leila Dickson Arthur of Dothan; sisters-in-law Dorothy Joseph Dickson (Robert), Lowndesboro, and Ann Plant Morthland (Rex), Selma.
She is also survived by step-grandchildren James Edwin
Thomas III, Brittany Thomas and Timothy James Bethel; nieces Dorothy Dickson Skipper (Randy), Lowndesboro, Leila Anne Kidd Rowan (Robert), Huntsville, Mary Ann Morthland Patterson (Scott) and Edith Morthland Jones (Larry), both of Selma; nephews George
Traweek Dickson (Lori), and Robert Stiles Dickson III (Jane), both of Lowndesboro; John Grover Arthur, Fayette; Richard Arthur (Jan), Dothan; Donald Bradford Kidd (Robin), Birmingham; Robert Dickson Kidd (Sharon) of Harpersville; James Kidd III (Katherine) and John William Kidd (Susan), both of Birmingham, and Richard Plant Morthland (Roberta) of Selma.
A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Thomas maintained an active role in social, civic and charitable activities in the community. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America, Selma Garden Club, and a tireless fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
Pallbearers will be James Kidd III, John
William Kidd, Donald Bradford Kidd, George Traweek Dickson, John Grover Arthur, Richard Arthur Jr., William Marshall Patterson, Alan Cooper Leach, Martin Plant Morthland, William Plant Morthland and James Kidd IV.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or to a favorite charity.
Visitation was held Sunday from 6-8 p.m.

Jimmy Ray Childs, 58, a resident of Selma, died Jan. 18, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Services will be announced at a later date.
