Ullma Elizabeth Heinz

Ullma Elizabeth Heinz passed away January 7, 2007 in Selma, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Raidford Heinz and Melvin Curtis Heinz.

Miss Heinz was a 1949 graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School.

She graduated from Stephens College, a junior college in Columbia, Missouri, thereafter being graduated from the University of Alabama where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.

While Miss Heinz was a student at Stephens College, she was chosen most outstanding equestrian at the college.

She became a riding instructor there and later served as Head of the Riding department at William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri.

She also became Head of the Riding department at Camp Nakanawa in Malan, Tennessee over summer months.

Miss Heinz served as the Walking Horse Equitation Judge at the National Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

She taught in the Selma Public School system for numerous years.

Miss Heinz is survived by three sisters, Carolyn Heinz Knight, Rosemary Heinz Turner (Milam), Mildred “Tutter” Heinz Lamb (Frank); and one brother, Melvin Curtis Heinz, Jr.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, January 10 at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Reverend George Sedberry Pastor of Church Street United Methodist Church officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
