James A. Bearden, Sr.

James A. Bearden, Sr., age 78, of Selma, AL, passed away January 7, 2007.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 10, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Sanders officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Internment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, January 9, 2007, 6-8:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Smith Bearden; six sons, Jimmy (Joyce) Bearden, Jerry Smith of Mobile, AL, Fred Myrick of Mobile, AL, Julian (Darla) Smith, Jay (Heather) Smith and Leon (Alicia) Smith; four daughters, Jennelle (Gary) Etheridge of Dallas, GA, Jennifer (Charles) Miller, Janice (Alex) Kennedy of Prattville, AL and Joyce (Bill) Bolin of Beverly, KS; one brother, William J. (Vina) Bearden; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Etheridge, Scott Etheridge, Jason Bearden, Dennis Small, Bryant Miller and Jeremy Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Myrick, Michael Story, Alex Kennedy and Charles Miller.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Wiregrass Hospice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wiregrass Hospice.

Willodean M. Nichols

Willodean M. Nichols, age 69 of Jones, died Sunday, January 7, 2007 in a Montgomery hospital.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Rod Rochester, Rev. Wayne Craft and Rev. Art Hartley officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Survivors include: her husband, Thomas E. Nichols of Jones; daughters, Melanie and son-in-law David Ray of Jones, Shelia and fianc Charles Dare of Northport, AL; granddaughter, Renee and grandson-in-law Shane Dobbins of Selma; and great grandchildren, Webb and Josh Dobbins; brothers, Lee McCullough of Alaska and John McCullough of Selma; sisters, Louise Hancock of South Carolina and Neddie Hamilton of Montgomery.

Dorothy W. Aydelott

Dorothy W. Aydelott, born March 7, 1909 in Nanafalia, AL died on December 29, 2006 in Linden, AL.

Graveside services were held on January 1, 2007 with interment at Linden Memorial Gardens. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Aydelott is survived by a son, Alonzo H. (Robbie) Purser of Sunny South; one granddaughter, Dorothy Cook Purser Kramer of Bradenton, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Marion Baptist Academy with Rev. Allen Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Norfleet Heard with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: one son, Deryl Norfleet; grandmother, Clara Patrick; brothers, Will Heard, Marvin (Natasha) Edward; grandchildren, Darlena, Megan and Kenneth; sisters, Jeanette Oscar, Jr., Juliette Donna; a host of nieces and nephews, four aunts and three uncles.

Mr. Percy Herring (a.k.a. Jack), age 66, of Marion, AL died on January 3, 2007 at DCH Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Miller Chapel, Marion, AL.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Frances Herring; the mother of his children, Pearlie Herring Wiggins; sisters-in-laws, Chinester Herring and Catherine Herring; brothers-in-laws, Willie Smith and Eddie Holifield; sisters, Ella Smith and Sallie Herring; god-brothers, Leo Smith and Charlie Diggins; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a host nieces and nephews; a special niece, April Smith; special friends, Susie Russell and Willie Kynard.
