Wilton E.”Will” Stewart

Wilton E. “Will” Stewart, age 80, of Vestavia Hills, died Sunday, December 17, 2006.

Mr. Stewart served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Stewart was retired from work as a Hospital Administrator.

He was a very active member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Logos Sunday School Class whose members will serve as honorary pallbearers.

He was also a member of the Downtown Birmingham Lions Club.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Mary Clark Stewart; his 5 children, Wilton Earl Stewart, Jr. (Gloria), Debby Stewart Gresham (Ken), Mark D. Stewart, James D. Stewart (Susan) and Richard B. Stewart; his 6 grandchildren, Laura Barbeau Stewart, Emily Gresham McGough (Patrick), Paul Silas Stewart Gresham, Brennen T. Stewart, Gordon Clark Stewart, and Ashley E. Pruitt; and by many other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Ruthland-Memorial Chapel at Vestavia Hill United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to “In Christ Name Fund” at Vestavia Hill United Methodist Church, 2061 Kentucky Ave., Birmingham, AL 35216. Ridout’s Valley Chapel directing.

Raymond Leonard Mathiews, Sr.

Raymond Leonard Mathiews, Sr., age 78, died Sunday, December 17, 2006 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006 in Church Street United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. George M Sedberry and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will follow in Carlowville Baptist Cemetery, Carlowville, Ala.

Mr. Mathiews is survived by his son, Raymond Leonard (Christy) Mathiews, Jr. of Selma, daughters, Beverly Mathiews (Tommy) Waters of Gainesville, Fla., Nancy Mathiews (Scott) Miller of Montgomery, Ala., and Linda Mathiews of Gainesville, Fla., grandchildren, Derek Waters, Amy Miller, Casey Miller, Christy Waters, Haley Mathiews, Carley Waters, Peyton Mathiews, and Mallory Mathiews, brother, Donald (Lucy) Mathiews of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Charles Casey, Glenn Garrett, Jack Callen, Allen Garrett, Steve kopp, and Mark Kelley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:30 Tuesday evening.

As an alternative to flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the United Methodist Childrens Home or Wiregrass Hospice.

Katie F. Hunter

Katie F. Hunter, age 50, of Selma, Alabama died on December 13, 2006 at UAB Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethleham Baptist Church with Minister Herbert Allen, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: mother, Ernestine Franklin; one daughter, Talia Hunter; one brother, George (Irene) Franklin; four sisters, Mona Bonner, Patrica (Pete) Brown, Anita King and Gloria (MC) McCants; and host of other relatives.

Mrs. Helen McNealey

Mrs. Helen McNealey, age 73, of Demopolis, Alabama passed December 13, 2006 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Demopolis, Alabama. Rev. Richard Fountain will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Demopolis, Alabama. The remains will repose at the church on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Francis Allen Crawford, age 67, of Marion, Ala. died Sunday December 17, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Marion United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Fellowship Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

Earl Barge

Earl Barge, 97, of Marion Junction, Ala. and Selma, Ala. died December 15, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Miller’s Funeral Home Chapel. visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Rosalind (Roz) Johelly

Roz Johelly, 50, died December 15, 2006 in Bethlehem, Pa.

She is survived by her devoted fianc, Lt. James Bell, formerly of Selma; her son, one grandchild, her father, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be in Bethlehem, Pa.

Brenda Murphy of Selma, Ala. died on December 16, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Lucy Speight, age 91, of Selma, Ala. died on December 12, 2006 at Baptist South Hospital.

Daisy Thomas, age 90, of Orrville, Ala. died on December 18, 2006 at Warren Manor Nursing Home.

Viola Johnson

Viola Johnson, age 72, of Selma, Ala. died on December 15, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
