Hatcher was driving a beige Chevrolet Prism when it got lodged under a log truck at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Earl Goodwin Parkway at approximately 7:02 p.m. Monday. The log truck driver, Waymond Spicer of Selma, was not injured.

A large group of spectators watched Selma Fire and Rescue workers free Hatcher from the vehicle. Hatcher, who was conscious following the accident, was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center South at the scene.

In a previous report, Lt. John Brock of the SPD said one of the vehicles ran a traffic light. The traffic division is still trying to determine which vehicle was at fault.
