Lillian Johnson Jones

Lillian Johnson Jones (Mrs. D. Franklin Jones, 96, of Selma died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Ron Stone officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Lillian was born in Collinsville, Ala., daughter of Charles Pearson Johnson and Frances Small Johnson. Her interests and hobbies were Bible study and to travel.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Joseph Salter

Joseph Salter, 74, of Selma passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. John Shipman and Larry Stover officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Salter is survived by his wife, Esther Nichols; son, Gerald Salter of Selma; daughter, Sherrie Hawkins of North Augusta, S.C.; sister, Edith Rogers; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW.

Pallbearers will be Matt Hawkins, Jeremy Salter, Trey Salter, Jonathon Duranceau, Tommy Hawkins and Douglas Coats.

Mattie Goode

Mattie Goode of Brent, Ala., died at her residence on Dec. 8, 2006. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Lee & Rollins Funeral Home.

Earnestine J. King

Earnestine J. King of Marion died at her residence on Dec. 9, 2006. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Lee & Rollins Funeral Home.

Daisy Allison McLelland

Scruggs

Daisy Allison McLelland Scruggs, 80, of Marion, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at her residence.

Service will be held at the Marion United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with Dr. Larry Teasley and the Rev. James Waters Jr. officiating.

Interment will be at Gainesville Cemetery in Gainesville, Ala., at 3 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 10

to 11 a.m. at Marion United Methodist Church Chapel before the funeral.

Survivors includes her spouse, James L. Scruggs Jr., of Marion; daughters, Shana Moore of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Julie Phillips of Oviedo, Fla.; son, Lea Scruggs of Orange Beach, Ala.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Derry Bone, Taylor Bone, John Ross Bone, Cameron Phillips, Cooper Phillips, Neal Moore, Harris Scruggs, who are grandsons and great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Marion United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 85, Marion, AL 36756.
