Curtis Godwin

Curtis Godwin, age 83, of Selma, died December 5, 2006 at a local hospital.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2006 in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Chester Jernigan & Rev. Edward Eaton officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Survivors include his devoted wife; Marion (Coonie) Godwin, brother; Malcom McKay Godwin, sister-in-law Eva Lou Godwin, Nieces; Lynn (Otis) Bender, Monta Lou Crawford. Brednda( Mike) Deavors, Wanda (David) Hayes, nephews; Rex (Melissa) Thompson, Steve ( Stacy) Godwin and Malcom (Wanda) Godwin. Host of cousins, a precious god child, Paula McWhorter and devoted pets, Molly & Bobby.

Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his brothers; Guy Godwin, Jr., Montague Godwin, sister; Vermelle Thompson, mother; Earl Neville Godwin and father Clifford Godwin.

Mr. Godwin was a long time member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, and a veteran of U.S. Navy and served in WWI.

Pallbearers will be Bucky Summerlin, Mark Sewell, Rex Thompson, Mike Dempsy, David Summerlin, Ron Gordon and David Latham.

Honorary pallbearers are Homer Reeves, Joe McGee, Ronnie Adams, T.J. Barrow, Melvin Summerlin, Jim Trantham, Ronnie Ratliff, Curtis Johnson and Jim Adams.

The family is accepting flowers, but you may also make donations to Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Michael Martin

Michael Martin, age 43, of Ohio died on December 4, 2006 in Kentucky.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.

Marjorie Hunter Martin Friday

Marjorie Hunter Martin Friday, age 96, died in Birmingham, Alabama on December 5, 2006 after a short illness.

She was born in Carlowville, Alabama on November 19, 1910.

She is survived by a son, John Russell Martin and his wife, Gay M. Martin, grandchildren, Eliza M. Racine and John Russell Martin, Jr. and great grandchildren, Margaret Racine and Caroline Racine. Mrs. Friday survived her husband, William A. Martin and later W.C. Friday.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Lawrence Brown-Service of Selma.

Susan Angelina Braswell Rinehart

Susan Angelina Braswell Rinehart, age 31, of Marion, Ala. died on Monday, December 4, 2006 at Bibb County Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Heiberger United Methodist Church Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

Mrs. Centonia M. Sallie

Mrs. Centonia M. Sallie, age 83, of Selma, Ala. died on December 4, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
