“It is unknown at this time whether she was using a safety belt,” Earnhardt said.

Dixon’s boyfriend was driving the vehicle. He is currently being treated at a Montgomery hospital.

Toney J. Watkins, 69, of Columbus, Ga. was also killed in Saturday’s wreck. Watkins, who was traveling west on Highway 80, “was not using a safety belt,” Earnhardt said.

Earnhardt said the crash is currently under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers Office. According to an Associated Press report, troopers said it appears one car crossed the median and struck two other vehicles.

The accident happened four miles east of White Hall at approximately 4 p.m., Earnhardt said.

Funeral services for Dixon are set for Saturday.
