Willie C. Dobyne, age 60, of Brent, AL died on November 26, 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00pm at The Pine Grove Baptist Church in Brent, AL. The pastor Rev. Jerry Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Cooper Cemetery in Centreville, AL with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Abbie Snowden

Mrs. Abbie Snowden, age 60, of Minter, AL died on November 28, 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Tabernacle of Praise with Pastor Efell Williams officiating. Burial will follow in County Line #1 Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lula Snowden of Minter, AL; four brothers, Edward (Beulah) Wright of Vanclear, MS, Israelee (Clara) Wright, John (Regina) Wright both of Pensacola, FL, and Thomas Wright of Minter, AL; five sisters, Lula Lawson of Mobile, AL, Rosetta (Lee Davis) Pressley, Alice Wright both of Pensacola, FL, Corene Wright and Lucille Wright of Minter, AL; granddaughter, Teresa Snowden and two devoted nephews, Benjamin Fields and Joshua Wright.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louiza and Eddie Wright and one sister, Rebecca Snowden.

Edward ‘Sam’ Mott

Mr. Tollie Edward “Sam” Mott, age 78, a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama died on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at his home, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Wetumpka on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM.

The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the Church. Burial will be at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, AL on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Dr. James Troglen officiating at both services and Ellison Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Mr. Mott is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrice Juanita Mott; two daughters, Sherry Jane (Randy) Martin of Montgomery, AL, and Edwina Kay (Daniel) Gubin of Coosada, AL; four grandchildren, Chris (Wendy) Martin, Gabe (Amanda) McGinty, Anna Martin, and Ben McGinty; and three great-grandchildren, Andrea Martin, Cody Martin, and Camden McGinty.

Pallbearers are Chris Martin, Anna Martin, Ben McGinty, Roger Glenn Truett, Jon Marc Roberts, and Kenneth Mott.

Honorary pallbearers are the J.E. Morris Sunday School Class and Mr. Harlace Kirby.

Mr. Mott was born in Clarke County, AL to the late Andrew Jackson Mott, Jr., and Carrie Lily Brown Mott. He proudly wears a 40-year pin representing his employment with the Alabama Power Company and was a member of the Energizers. William Henry Casey, age 63, of Selma, AL, passed away November 30, 2006 at his residence.

Graveside services will be Sunday, December 3, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation with be Saturday, December 2, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Casey, his father, Sherman Andrews of Dothan, AL; two sons, Sean Casey of Selma, AL and Tommy (Cindy) Casey of Winder, GA; one daughter, Jennifer (Tony) Levins of Prattville, AL and one grandchild, Cameron Levins.

He was a member of Selma Masonic Lodge #926, Order of the Eastern Star and Scottish Rite.

Mr. Scott Edward Rembert, age 50, of Forkland, Alabama passed on November 24, 2006 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00 pm at New Green Oak Baptist Church in Forkland, Alabama with Rev. Edward King officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon.

Adolph Griffin, of Sardis, AL died on November 25, 2006 in Sardis.

Jo Ann Brutton, age 61, of Hayneville, AL died on November 25, 2006.

Robert Lee

Green Jr., M.D.

Robert Lee Green Jr., M.D., 85, of Birmingham, AL, died on November 29, 2006 at Brookwood Medical Center Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

Visitation & services will be at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL (205) 879-3401 on Saturday, December 2, 2006.

Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. with the memorial service following at 2:00 p.m.

Dr. Green was born on August 17, 1921 in Fairfield, AL and was the oldest son of the late Robert Lee Green, Sr. and Jimmie Lee Jones, both of Birmingham.

He earned an Associate Degree in Science from Marion Military Institute in 1941, a Bachelor of Science from The University of Alabama in 1943 and an M.D from Hahnemann Medical College in 1946.

After graduating from medical school, he served 3 years as a Flight Surgeon in the US Army Air Force, after which he lived and practiced Psychiatry in Durham, NC for 47 years before moving back to Birmingham in 2003.

Dr. Green served as President of The Southeastern Psychiatric Association, The Southern EEG Society and The Southern Psychiatric Association and was a fellow of The American Psychiatric Association, The Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and The American Electroencephalographic Society.

He also was a member of The North Carolina Psychiatric Association, The Durham-Orange County Medical Society and The American College of Psychiatrists.

From 1958 – 1988, Dr. Green was a Professor of Psychiatry at The Duke University Medical Center and from 1956 – 1980 he practiced at The Durham VA Hospital where, in 1972, he was named Chief of Staff.

After retiring from the VA Hospital in 1980, he was named Medical Director of Holly Hill Hospital in Raleigh, NC where he worked until his retirement in 1990.

He was a life-long member of The Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, SJ, USA, Valley of Memphis Orient of Tennessee, where he attained the rank of 32o Mason.

His survivors include: two sons, Robert Lee Green, III (Pam) of Selma, AL and Norwood E. Green (Margaret) of Lookout Mtn, TN; five Grandchildren, Stacy Green Ramsey (David) of Lookout Mtn, GA, Adam Whitman Green (Kelly) of Selma, AL, Laura Elizabeth Green of Lookout Mtn, TN, Carrie Elizabeth Green of West Hollywood, CA and Edwin Boykin Green of South Lake Tahoe, CA; four great grandchildren, Ashley and Parker Christenson of Lookout Mtn., GA and John Martin and Marleigh Green of Selma, AL.

Dr. Green was preceded in death by his brother, James A. Green of Birmingham, AL, and his two sisters, Alice Green Castleberry of Tuscumbia, AL and Eleanor Green Harris of Birmingham, AL.

Ben Crumb Ansley

Ben Crumb Ansley, age 84, of Selma, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Robert H. Taylor officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Ansley is a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Division in the European Theater. His career years were devoted to the Grocery Industry and he successfully operated a small grocery store in Sardis, Alabama until his retirement in 1980.

Mr. Ansley is survived by his nieces, Kay Parrish Wilson and Carrie Parrish (Allen) Blackmon of Valley Grande and nephews, Mike (Wanda) Parrish and Patrick Parrish of Selma. Great nieces, Kaylene Parrish, Ellen Wilson and Alicia Blackmon; and one great nephew, Bryant Wilson.

His was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Earl and Alice Grace Bolton Ansley; brother, William Bryant Ansley; sister, Clara Grace Ansley Parrish; and great nephews, Cory and Clint Blackmon.

Family visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2006 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Edward Bonner, age 63, of Massachusetts died on November 22, 2006 in Massachusetts

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Bonner and one sister, Betty Jean Smith of Albany, NY.

Geraldine Stringer Smith, age 56, of Birmingham, AL died on Friday, November 24, 2006.

She was currently employed with Social Security Administration USA.

Mr. Richard L. Banks, Sr., age 70, of Gallion, Alabama passed on November 26, 2006 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 206 at 1:00 pm at the Bethel Pine Baptist Church in Coatopa, Alabama with Rev. Floyd Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Coatopa, Alabama.

Family hour will be held Saturday from 12 noon until 1:00 pm at the church.

Evelyn Megginson Pruett

Mrs. Evelyn Megginson Pruett, age 96, a native and former resident of Uniontown, Alabama died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Woodhaven Manor in Demopolis.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Gallion Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Davis and Rev. Evie Riley Megginson officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown, Alabama with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing services.

The Pruett Family will receive friends at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Chapel Friday, December 1, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Mrs. Pruett was preceded in death by her husband, Wallie Miller Pruett.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelmerdene Pruett Folsom and her husband, John of Flomaton, Alabama, Luverne Pruett Ratliff and her husband, Ottis of Demopolis, Alabama; two sons, Gerald Pruett and his wife, Martha and Eddie Pruett all of Uniontown, Alabama; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Justin Pruett, Mark Ratliff, Jerry Pruett, Johnny Folsom, Jr., Eddie Pruett Jr., Mickey Folsom.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class at Gallion Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pruett was a resident of Demopolis for the past three months. She was a member of Gallion Baptist Church for the past fifteen years and was a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class.

Columbus Belcher

Columbus Belcher, age 52, formerly of Marion, AL died on November 29, 2006 in Meadowood Nursing Home in Bessemer, AL.

Johnny (Who-Dat) Lee Lindsey, 70, of Selma passed on November 27, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for December 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1416 Selma Ave. Officiating the service will be Joshua Davis. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Melvin Bonner, age 42, of Birmingham, AL died on November 22, 2006 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Johnny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Fuller Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: one brother, Lorenzo Bonner of Orrville, AL; two sisters, Carolyn Bonner of Taylor, MI and Kimberly Bonner of Orrville, AL; one brother-in-law; five nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Evelyn Bonner; one brother, Andre Bonne, Jr. and one sister, Deloris Lewis.

Michelle Elaine Linden, age 47, of Selma, Al died on November 24, 2006 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 11:00 am at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with Doris Moultrie officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Lawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
